HOW TO COUNT THE HOUSES

HOW TO COUNT THE HOUSES

1. First of all, Open Google Maps and create My Maps in the
menu.

2. Then, you can start to create your own map. In this case, I
will create the map of Guru Mughni Quadrant. Make the
delineation area of the quadrant using this icon.

And you can draw the map like this :

3. Using line again, then make a delineation line of each private

houses area in this quadrant. You can make a view layer of
houses like the picture. The important thing to draw the
delineation area is, you must know the clasiffication of the
houses (which is you must do some survey first before
making this map).
a. The classification that I use in this method is just only 2
i. Average House (small houses), average size is
*150 m2
ii. Expensive House (big houses), average size is
*450 m2
*I take this number of classification based on the information I
gathered on the internet

So when you make a delineation, please make sure that you

already know the area. Which one is average house and
which one is expensive house.
In the picture, Rumah Elit is the Expensive House and
Rumah Biasa is the Average House

4. Now we have all the delineation area of houses in Guru

Mughni quadrant. Next step we must do is to count the
houses and predict how many houses in this area. Each of
delineation area contain the size of its area. With this
number, we can predict how many houses are in the
quadrant.
5. To look the size of each delineation area, just click on one of
the area, and the number will show up. For example, this
area size is 3,76 ha.

6. Now. We have to gather all the area information and make

the summarize of all delineation data.
Classification
Expensive House
Average House

Total Size
8,515 ha 85.150 m2
7,16 ha 71.600 m2

7. Next, we must calculate the quantity of the houses. The

method of the calculation is basicly, you just have to divide
the size of the total delineation area with the size of the
houses, so you can get the number of houses in this area.
a. Expensive House
TOTAL SIZE / HOUSE SIZE = 85.150 / 450 = 189
HOUSES
b. Expensive House
TOTAL SIZE / HOUSE SIZE = 71.600 / 150 = 477
HOUSES
8. After we get this calculation, we must consider that in each
delineation area, it can not be contain all the houses for a

whole delineation area. So in this terms, we must count the
percentage of the other thing such as road, empty field, and
the other building. So I make this percentage like this, based
on the composition of the delineation area.
a. Road : 10%
b. Empty Field :20%
c. Others : 10%
Total = 40%
9. With this percentage, we must multiply it to the number of
the houses in the area.
a. Expensive House
TOTAL HOUSE X PERCENTAGE = 189 X 40% = 76
b. Average House
TOTAL HOUSE X PERCENTAGE = 477 X 40% = 191
10.

After that, we just subtract the total house with the

result of the calculation before. And we get the prediction

number of the total house in this area.
a. Expensive House
189 76 = 113
b. Average House
477 191 = 286
c. Total Houses
EXPENSIVE HOUSE + AVERAGE HOUSE = 113 +
286 = 399 HOUSES
11. So

now we have the prediction number of total houses in

Guru Mughni is 399 Houses.
