Kyoto:
Kyoto is one of the oldest cities in Japan, serving as the national capital from 794 to 1768,
established as the Imperial Emperors residence of choice aside from serving as the capital state on the
island of Honshu. During the Onin war, the area within and around Kyoto was devastated by the ensuing
battles and conflicts, not recovering until the mid-16th century. Kyoto is best known for its gardens, imperial
palaces, and numerous Buddhist temples.

Osaka:

port city, best known for its modern culture and nightlife style. One of the older landmarks in the area like
Kyotos imperial palaces is the Osaka Castle, a 16th century Shogunate castle that has been renovated
several times up until present-day Japan. Osaka is also home to one of the oldest shrines existing in Japan,
the Sumiyoshi-taisha Shinto shrine.
