Year 1: First Year of Graduate School (July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017)

Campus:
o Attend all Aspire Keystone Experience breakfasts and join a
committee if my schedule allows for it.
o Help coordinate and facilitate the Association for
Orientation, Transition and Retention in Higher Education
(NODA) Extended Orientation Institute Conference Virginia
Tech will be hosting in November.
o I have already joined the Social Events committee of HEA
and hope to help continue planning events for the
members of HEA. I am also considering running for a
position on the HEA board for next school year.
o Choose a practicum on campus for my spring semester and
a summer practicum in areas such as orientation, student
conduct, student advocacy, fraternity and sorority life, or
housing and residential life.

Local:
o Look into possibly doing a local practicum at a community
college to get experience at another institution type.

State:
o Join the Virginia Association of College and University
Housing Officers (VACUHO).

Regional:
o Attend the NODA Region 8 Conference in Philadelphia, PA
in March. Plan on look into presenting at this conference

with a friend in a Higher Education program at another


institution.
o Look into joining a NODA committee or opportunities to
volunteer at the national conference in 2017 or at the

regional level.
National:
o Become an active member of NODA and look into
volunteer opportunities or committees I can join as a
graduate student.
o Become a member of Student Affairs Administrators in
Higher Education (NASPA).

Year 2: Second Year of Graduate School (July 1, 2017-June 30, 2018)

Campus:
o Continue to serve on an Aspire Keystone Experience
committee.
o Hold a position on the HEA executive board.
o Become more familiarized with Strengths and look into
being formally trained on it.

State:
o Attend the Virginia Student Services conference (location
TBD) if time permits.
o Remain a member of VACUHO.
Regional:
o Attend NODA Region 8 Conference, location TBD.
National:
o Attend the NODA National level conference in Louisville, KY
and look into volunteering or presenting at the conference.
o Remain a member of NASPA and attend the NASPA
Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
o Become a member of American College Personnel
Association (ACPA).

Year 3: First Year of Professional Level Work (July 1, 2018-June 30,


2019):

Campus:
o Hold a job within a New Student Programs office in the New
Jersey/New York area.
o Become involved with the Division of Student Affairs.
o Attend various events on campus to help with assimilation

to a new position.
o Consider being an advisor to an organization on campus.
Local:
o Become a chapter advisor for a local Delta Delta Delta
chapter.
Regional:
o Attend the NODA Region 8 conference and hold a
committee chair, as this would be my sixth Region 8

conference.
National:
o Attend NODA national conference and look into
volunteering.
o Remain a member of NASPA and attend the national
conference in Philadelphia, PA.
o Remain a member of ACPA.
o Become trained in NCBI (National Coalition Building
Institute) and attend all certification trainings to be a
certified committee member.

Year 4: Second Year of Professional Level Work (July 1, 2019-June 30,


2020)

Campus:
o Remain at the same institution in the same position to gain
further field experience.

o Become an NCBI committee member at my institution, and


if no previous committee exists, introduce that to my
current institution.
o Attend Division of Student Affairs presentations and look

into joining a committee.


o Continue advising an organization on campus.
o Be a campus presenter for NCBI.
Local:
o Remain a chapter advisor for Delta Delta Delta.
State:
o Attend a NODA Drive in conference (location TBD).
Regional:
o Attend NODA Region 8 conference and remain a committee
member.
o Assist students who may want to present at this
conference with planning and execution of a presentation.
o Reach out to schools in the region to see how orientation
and extended orientation works at their institution to bring
back ideas to better my own program.
o Attend an NGLA Conference (Northeast Greek Leadership

Association) to support the chapter I am advising.


National:
o Attend a national Delta Delta Delta Conference.
o Attend NODA and create a national presentation that may
tie in ideas of NCBI if possible.
o Remain a member of ACPA and NASPA.
o Attend an NCBI Leadership for Diversity Institute.

Year 5: Second Year of Professional Level Work (July 1, 2020-June 30,


2021)

Campus:
o Remain within the same position at the same institution.

o Begin looking into positions at a higher level in a NSP office


or consider a different department such as student
advocacy or student conduct.
o Continue advising a student organization.
o Remain an active member and committee member of the

Division of Student Affairs.


o Be a campus presenter for NCBI.
Regional:
o Become a regional advisor/volunteer for Delta Delta Delta.
o Attend NODA Region 8 conference, or become a host for

the conference at my institution.


National:
o Become a member of the Association for Student Conduct
Administration (ASCA) to learn more about the field of
conduct.
o Remain a member of NODA, NASPA, ACPA.
o Become a national committee member and help plan the
national NODA conference.
