The following vision and mission statement is based on a fictional juvenile detention center.

Juvenile Detention Center
School Library Media Program
The mission of the Montgomery County Juvenile
Detention Center school library media program is to
provide incarcerated youth access to the necessary tools
and resources that will enable them to become
indispensable members of society upon their release.
The Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center school
library media program allows students to develop
personal and intellectual growth by:
Creating a safe place, where every individual is
treated with civility and respect, regardless of race,
religion, gender, and socio-economic background.
Encouraging education that will meet the needs of
each individual through visual, auditory, and hands
on learning.
Collaborating with teachers, providing them with the
appropriate tools necessary for classroom learning.
Cultivating tolerance towards other students unique
backgrounds and views by constantly working
together.
Providing access to current technology, materials,
and programs that will improve their literacy and
critical thinking skills.

Encouraging students to use existing information


resources in meeting their day to day needs.
Generating career workshops that prepare students
for the workforce outside the detention center.
