academic vocabulary.
2) The students will be able to demonstrate and articulate orally the fundamentals of base running
using academic vocabulary.
3) The students will be able to demonstrate and articulate orally the fundamentals of catching using
academic vocabulary.
Organization Student (individual, partners, 3's, groups of?):
The class will be separated into two teams. Everybody gets a turn to kick before flipping
fields.

Ask class what are the motions of catching, kicking, and base running. To be correct, the class
must answer with techniques explained during introduction of lessons.
Check for assessment through observation of catching, kicking, and running bases.
o If students are struggling, students are requested to demonstrate physically and
articulate orally the fundamentals using academic vocabulary.

The weather is nice out for kickball, so find friends to practice the skills of kickball and
perhaps have a game too.
Watch baseball games, the concepts and principles are very similar to kickball.
CLASS MANAGEMENT:
Student grouping mgmt.:
Students will remain in their original groups as assigned by teacher.
Teams will be created by a random selection process.
Equipment mgmt.:
All equipment will be placed at its designated areas by instructor.
Mgmt. routines:
Warm up with dynamic stretches in assigned groups.
Behavior mgmt.:
Public praise
Silent warning of deviant behavior (only when others are not watching and engaged in an
activity)
Break from activity after silent warning.
Follow up with deviant student on a 1-to-1 basis after class and discuss issue.
CONTENT SEQUENCE:
Opening/Anticipatory Set: (state objectives, connect to previous learning, and make relevant to real
life)
Today we will work on the fundamentals of catching, kicking, and base running so we can
play the game of kick ball. Can anyone tell me any key words about motions that relate to
kick ball? Has anyone played and can share their experience?
Introductory Activity/Warm-up segment:
Walking groin stretches.
Walking hamstring stretches.
Walking hip stretches.
Walking quad stretches.
Walking calf stretches.
Open stride lateral jog within a short distance.
Skill Development content - Include Critical Elements, Teaching Cues, and Common Errors you
will likely need to address:
Teachers will demonstrate the skills of Kicking, Catching, and Base Running prior to all
independent student practices.
Teachers will informally assess through observation throughout the activity area during
independent practices.
(Corrective): Good job kicking with the in-seam of your foot; lets try the T-form to improve
your balance and increase the chances of a more effective kick.
Closure/Lesson Summary:
By raising your hand, can anyone talk me through the motions of the different skills in
kickball?
By raising your hand, can anyone tell me what was challenging during the different skills
