Pastor, Jonathan Edwards in his sermon, From Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God
(1741, argues that you will feel the wrath of god if you do not obey him. He supports the
claim by saying The wrath of God is like great waters. He supports this going on and
explaining that the water increase and therefore the water becomes more rapid similar to
committing a sin, once you do it once if piles on and on ; He further explains by saying that
the pleasure of god that holds the waters back are unwilling to be stopped. The auther
purpose of writing his piece was to scare people so they do not sin and follow the words of
god. Anyone who is a part of the puritan religion would read this in order to understand why
it is important to follow the words of god.
