In architecture, major role of Biomimicry is more like imitating its shape than its
system, even though there are some good examples, but untill majority
of them are imitating its shape. However, if we thinks about the quality of
nature's research, learn from nature and using nature's results into human's
world is far more reasonable. Thus, we need to reconsider how and why we need
to implement nature through Biomimetic perspective. Main aim of the paper is to
support the idea about biomimetic solution as an architectural problem solver.
And this study use Lichen as an example specimen of nature. It will address
terminology of Biomimicry, methodology of Biomimicry utilization, Biomimetic
functional perspective, analysis of Lichen, and implementation of Lichen in
architecture project. Investigation will be done by defining Biomimetic
architectural approach, analysis of Lichens living, construct computational
solution, and applying the results into project. In the end, I applied this result from
research and experiment into real architectural project to make reasonable
example for necessity of Biomimicry. Through this research, it is expected that
two major aims. First, deep understanding about biomimicry not only aesthetic or
look, also functional aspect. Second, connect Lichens natural advantage with
architectural solution in a reasonable method.
