Course Overview:
The company secretariat in a company faces a multitude of legal and regulatory challenges. This 1-day course
offers a practical guide to some of those challenges, combining a detailed look at the law and regulation which
determine the secretarys work with exercises designed to enable delegates to put theory into practice.
The programme starts with a look at the statutory role and core duties of the company secretary, moving on to
explore the secretarys work in such key areas as working with the board and its various committees; regulation
and best practice in corporate governance; and year-end matters. The course focuses on practical issues faced by
the company secretariat & legal departments.

Trainers Profile: Nazir Ahmed Shaheen

Mr. Shaheen served in the capacity of Executive Director (Registration) in SECP where he also served at various
roles for over 20 years including that of Registrar. He remained involved in corporate laws development and
administration.
He has authored various books on corporate & secretarial practices like Practical Approach to Companies
Ordinance, 1984 and Corporate Laws and Secretarial Practices. He remained extensively involved in teaching
the legal framework governing the corporate sector of the economy and the developments made in the corporate
laws. He witnessed, about a quarter century, the development in corporate laws and contributed towards the
improvement in legal framework with the passage of the Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2002 and the
challenges of new legal environment created for the conduct of corporate entities. He has been practically and
theoretically involved in providing eServices regime for corporate sector, his approach has been to connect theory
with practice.
He is fellow member of ICMAP and remains actively engaged in the affairs of the institute especially as member of
the National Council. He is also Fellow member of Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA). He is a
law graduate besides having master in Economics from the Punjab University.
