3 PROCEDURE
1. Instructor prepares Orff instruments before instruction.
2. Students enter learning space and sit behind Orff instruments.
3. Instructor introduction.
a. Today I want to teach you about some instruments that are lots of fun
to play, but are very expensive and easy to break. Do you think we can
be on our best behavior so we can keep our instruments nice?
4. Instructor passes out mallets to each student.
a. Please keep your mallets off the Orff instruments until we are ready to
start. You can use them to show me your very best bumble bee
antennae to help you keep your mallets off the instruments.
5. Instructor demonstrates and explains proper mallet technique.
a. You will balance your mallet between your thumb and your pointer
finger. Can you copy my fingers?
b. Next, you will wrap the rest of your fingers around the mallet. Can you
copy the rest of my fingers?
