PERSONAL CODE OF ETHICS

Personal Code of Ethics

As an educator ones personal code of ethics must be established, clear, and understood as
situations frequently arise that will require accessing ones code to make the best decision or
judgment. The need for using ones personal code of ethics as the guiding force in decision
making as an educational administrator requires one to be cognizant and identify those strongest
ethical and moral stances. My personal code of ethics would include what is already outlined in
the Texas Educators Code of Ethics and I would add the following points:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

I will be a good role model to students, staff, colleagues, and parents.

I will base my decisions upon what is in the students best interest.
I will be just, fair, equitable, and allow for due process.
I will work to ensure the safety of students and staff at all times.
I will focus towards our campus goal and not personal agenda.
I will treat students, employees, and parents with the utmost respect.
I will work with students and staff to create a clear vision for the campus and

endeavor to work towards achieving that goal.

8. I will work to improve my professional skill set thereby providing better
leadership by attending trainings, and reading relevant literature.
9. I will work to protect the civil and individual rights of all persons on campus.
10. I will accept responsibility for my own actions.
11. I will follow district and campus rules and protocol.
These outlined ethical and moral considerations will serve as a basis from which all
decision and actions will be made for the improvement of our campus and student learning.
