Briefly describe how each of these artifacts could be used to introduce or teach
necessary concepts to students
1. The videos are a realistic fictional way to bring the events of history to life for the
students. This gives them a visual aide to understand concepts that may be abstract
to them since they are just reading a book or listening to the teacher lecture.
2. This is an image that can be an aide to the discussions on Paul Revere and the book
on Paul revere listed below. This again provides a visual aide to the novel. Students
can be asked to analyze and reflect on what the people in the picture felt during this
time.
3. This can be a visual aide during the class discussion of the Boston Tea Party to
discuss the effects it had on the American people during this act of rebellion.

How could the resources compiled here be used in your unit plan to entice,
motivate, and educate your students?
The first website has an interactive quiz about the revolutionary war. If you get the
answer wrong, it tells you, and then gives you a link to more information on the
topic to find the answer. This could be used to play a class game as either a preknowledge assessment or a post unit assessment. The second website also has
information on the revolutionary war and has a section on the causes of it. It the
broken up into subsections and they contain easy to understand information and

very descriptive pictures to go along with the information. This can be used for
class shared reading during the unit. The last website is a game about the Boston
Tea Party. This can either be played as a class or the students can play them in
groups or individually on a computer or ipad, if available in the classroom. The
Revolutionary War app contains videos, photos, games, pictures, and much more on
the war. There are also presentations that can be printed out. This app can be
used as a choice assignment where the sudents have to select something from the
app to research about in depth and then present it to the class. The last app can be
used for a quick assessment tool to check for understanding throughout the
lessons. The QR code reader is an interactive and fun way for students to be
engaged with the material.

Briefly summarize each book/resource.
1. This is a nonfiction book that recounts Paul Reveres Ride. It also goes in
depth about his life and other aspects of the war and what was happening.
There are a few illustrations as well.
2. Rachel is a nursemaid for John Adams, is enamored with Michael a young
solider. People rebel in Boston and Michael is one of the soldiers that shoots a
citizen. He is put on trial. Rachel is torn by loyalties and love. This is a
historical fiction.
3. Patsys father, Patrick Henry is off to encourage Americans to rebel and her
mother Sarah is crazy and patsy has locked herself in a basement. Her
mother claims that she can see the future and that one of her children
inherited the bad blood. Her sister Anne claims it is her but it is really her
brother John, who later also goes crazy. This is a historical fiction.
4. Tim lives with a loyalist family and his older brother Sam is a rebel. This
causes tensions in the family between the family and Tim is torn between two
sides as both British and Rebels cause them injustices. His father dies on a
prison ship and Sam is framed for stealing cattle, and is executed. This is a
historical fiction.
