Plants

A plant is any organism that

contains chlorophyll to make
their own food. Chlorophyll
is a green pigment, present in
all green plants and in
cyanobacteria, responsible
for the absorption of light to
provide energy for
photosynthesis. They have
multiple cells and cellulose.
Cellulose is an insoluble
substance that is the main
constituent of plant cell walls
and of vegetable fibers such
as cotton. Plants cant move
around like animals can.
Some examples are trees,
roses and grass. Plants need
water, sunlight, carbon
dioxide and chlorophyll to
live.

Animals
An animal is any living thing
that can breathe and move
around. They dont make their
own food and they have
multiple cells. Some examples
are lizards, butterflies and
rabbits. Animals are classified
into different groups based on
their characteristics.
Invertebrates are animals that
do not have a spine, or
backbone. Vertebrates are
animals that do! Vertebrates are
further classified into fish,
amphibians, birds, reptiles and
mammals.

Fungus
Fungi have no roots, flowers or
leaves. It also has no chlorophyll
and cant make its own food.
They eat decaying matter but
cant move around. Fungi are
found throughout Earth
including on land, water, air and
even in plants and animals. They
get their food by decomposing
matter or eating off their hosts as
parasites. Some examples are
Basidiomycata, Zygomycata and
Microspooudia.

Most Protist can only be

seen through a
microscope. They are
single cell organisms that
live in colonies. Some
examples are Protozoan.
Amoeba and Algae.
Protists move around like
animals and most can
make their own food.

Bacteria
Bacteria is a onecelled, living thing.
Bacteria is everywhere,
even inside you. Some
bacteria are helpful and
others cause diseases.
Some of the ones in
your stomach actually
help break down.
