When the data is processed using the batch processing and periodic

mode, first the transactions are collected and organized into batches in the
case of batch processing. Next a transaction file is created and later on
stored. The data stored will be accumulated until such time that the amount
is sufficient in order to process them and update the master file in scheduled
time in the case of batch processing while in the case of periodic mode, the
processing of the data accumulated is delayed in between the various data
processing steps. In contrast with the online real time and immediate
mode in which it provides real time update. Meaning, when a data is fed in a
system, the output you are expecting is instantaneously processed and
produced. There is no delay in the output expected. Once the transaction
event is occurring, the online computer database is updating.
The more common actual applications for the batch processing and
periodic mode are the:

Credit Card Transactions

Bills Generation
Clearing of checks

The actual applications for the online real time and immediate mode are
the:

Reserving plane tickets

Point of Sales
Booking concert seats
