Personal Philosophy

There are many responsibilities assumed by an educator; but none are as important as the
responsibility to familiarize with and to relate to students. Successful student-teacher
relationships are the foundation on which motivation, hard work, and academic achievement rest.
This belief comes from years of educational studies, classroom practice, and self-reflection. As I
look forward into my years as a middle school teacher, I also reminisce on the best teachers I had
during my middle school experiencethe ones that inspired me to be an educator myself. Mrs.
Clark and Ms. Hendersen helped me to excel in their middle grade math courses. Since then, my
passion and intrigue for mathematics continues to grow. Although this could be attributed to their
success as educators, I believe it to be because we developed positive relationships. By fostering
these impactful connections, we, as teachers, inspire students to achieve their highest potential
through persistent guidance and encouragement. Starting on my first day of school, I will
constantly strive to understand and support my students, taking a personal investment in their
academic, behavioral, and social progress. Through this connection, I hope to inspire my
students, help them realize their potential, and facilitate their high academic achievements.
