Hello, 4th Grade Parents!

It has been such a privilege to work with your children this school year thus far. I am truly enjoying every
single one of them, and consider myself so lucky to have them placed in my class this year.
I believe as an educator it is my responsibility to fuel and expose the different strengths of my students and
to capitalize on those differences as something to be celebrated and utilized in classroom lessons and
activities. Mr. Peltz and I plan to build experience in the classroom through engaging, challenging, and
collaborative work. We believe that if we challenge our students to be vulnerable with each other through
sharing work, ideas and opinions we will create a safe and empowering classroom environment. By doing
this we also create a platform to encourage, congratulate and affirm the risks they are taking!
My past students have come from all different of backgrounds, regions, cultures, and life experiences, and I
hope this years class is no different. I look forward to learning about who your little ones are, and shining
positive light on what makes each of them different. In this certain diversity in the classroom, as an
educator, I will be progressive in my teaching, meaning as times change, my teaching will adjust to what
exactly you child will need in order to grow, both as a learner, and as a person. Progressive thinking is a
mentality that would benefit any individual in any job or any position. The ways of doing things are
always changing and evolving to the newest and, often times, best; this is one of the few guarantees in life.
I believe the classroom should be set up to initiate the students journey in education, rather than the
entirety of it. If the minds of my students are trained to think innovatively, and in a problem-solving
manner, then they will be well equipped to face and overcome obstacles and will be comfortable with
looking at problems in different ways.
I couldnt ask for a better class to be a part of, and truly look forward to learning more and more about
your children, and each of you as well.
Thank you,
Emily
