Dont Believe the Hype

Show a child a toy and the kid will want to play with it, show a child a ball and he/ she
will attempt to bounce or throw it, give a child food and the child will eat it until they unless
decide they do not like the food for various reasons; we beings know. I say that to exemplify if
children are shown characters that are good but humanly impossible (Professor Atkins), they
will entertain humanly impossible characteristics. The child will reinterpret what he sees, hears,
feels, cares, and thinks about. The families reciprocate love to children because they will
understand this is someone who cares and believes in me, as a result the child learns how to love
in the way that they witnessed it during their childhood years. I believe that genetics play a factor
in the way that we evolve as a people and develop our own characters and persona. You cant just
begin being your own character from day one, regardless of how natural it may come to others. If
it came so effortlessly your families genes carried down stronger than others, believe that your
ancestors had what you have inside of you. The same characteristics and different traits of
oneself originates from the environment that person encountered during their specific lifetime
and every generational society and economy creates different character traits for the ancestors
that lived before the child today. Take for instance although Stephen Curry, the back to back
unanimous MVP point guard for the NBAs Golden State Warriors, is rewriting history books
with his overall performance as a basketball player through and thoroughly. His father Dell
Curry Sr. was drafted by the Utah Jazz as the 15th pick overall back in 1986. During his

seventeen-year tenure in the NBA, the right handed assassin retired as the Charlotte Hornets alltime leader in points (9,839) and three-point field goals made (929). The apple never falls too far
from the tree, and the Fairy Tales we have discussed this past semester have defined what and
how not, while including who and where along the storyline. Children grow up wanting to be
like who they lookup to, literally and mentally. They will respect you if you can relate to them
because they are not concerned with relating toward you during their childhood, from a
perspective this world is theirs and we grownups are just in it. If you show a child characters
that are humanly impossible they will grow to believe in the hype verse what is realistic and this
allows the child to decipher between what real images are bad and good. I believe Stephen Curry
as a child gained a self perception that he was his father along time ago during his childhood
days. I assume he imagined himself as Wardell Stephen Curry Sr. and actually performed
internally as Chef Curry with the pot, boy. The abilities that are created during ones childhood
never leave because as you enter life in this world from childhood, your youth gives you peace to
conquer the challenges and creativity.
Stereotyped images appear in our everyday lives. I think we as African Americans
especially as a whole have experienced so many occasions of being judged by our book-cover
before people of other ethnicity actually read. Growing up as black kid, the stereotypes began to
be jokes. We, even use them to bond with one another where I am from because although we
know the world says it is a stereotype, who cares that our natural interest and actions have been
put under one umbrella. African-Americans have and will always still make it rain, and hold our
umbrellas over our heads to protect us from stereotypical and judgmental rain drops. This takes
a toll on children development because the stereotyped images appear in other cultural and
indoctrinating forms (Professor Atkins) that children period, cannot shield or hide away from.
