To whom it may concern: I am writing this letter to express my sincere interest in obtaining a Human Resources. As a senior at Florida International University, majoring in Communication Arts, I offer strong research and writing skills, as well as knowledge of persuasive communication and professional PR practices. My education in Communication Arts and my experience in department projects has fortified my strong desire to work in human resources. My experience and participation with Miami-Dade Police & Youth Community Dialogues, an initiative formed in Communication Arts, taught me how to navigate and have an understanding of group communication processes. I am able to ask questions and deflect arguments that can arise between MDPD and local youth participants. I have gained experience in moving the dialogue into appropriate topics, allowing participants to voice opinion, all of which are nessacary skills needed in human resources. In addition, part of working on the project includes helping the faculty member in administrative tasks. For each dialogue, I take notes throughout the dialogue, greet and welcome the participants, and assist with meeting preparations and documents that are needed. In addition to my experience, the organization track in Communication Arts is a strategically designed course track to gain knowledge in a variety of communication skills needed to be successful in human resources. Communications for Effective Leadership taught me examine leadership theories, examine theories of motivation and their impact on leadership processes, examine the personal qualities possessed by good leaders and analyze leadership traits. Also, Small Group Communication taught me how apply group communication theories and concepts while working in a team to come to a consensus and use decision-making and problem-solving skills effectively in group meetings. Business and Professional Communication taught two important things 1-English Language skills: I develop and/or improve my ability to compose English sentences using proper punctuation, grammar, and mechanics 2-Oral Presentation Skills: I develop and/or improve your ability to deliver information effectively to an audience using an appropriate PowerPoint presentation. Last course is Organizational Communication Identify the three perspectives of organizational communication, identify the four theories of organization communication, describe strategic organizational communication and analyze the strategic communication practices of an existing company to determine the effectiveness of their communication.
