INTRODUCTION

What are principals perceptions of the importance of technology?

Do principals perceptions of technology differ by years of experience and gender?
Purpose of the research: The purpose is to find out how technology is useful and
the importance it holds in schools by interviewing principals in the southern U.S.
region.
METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants: 311 Principals and graduate students in Educational

Leadership program
Procedures: Principals were interviewed and asked the same two
questions.
Data Collection Methods/Data Source: Data was collected by interviews.
Data Analysis: The data was sorted into six categories per three different
tables.
RESULTS
Findings or Results (or main points of the article): Principals need to stay updated
with all technology so they can help teachers better understand whatever
technology comes around. The results indicate that according to principals,
technology is important with communication and instruction equally. Also, their
perceptions are biased based on gender which may influence their leadership.

DISCUSSIONS

Conclusions/Implications (for your profession): Technology is important in

education because it is everywhere. The importance it holds in communication is just
as important as instruction.
REFLECTIONS
Students Reflections (changes to your understanding; implications for your
school/work):I feel like technology is very important because the world of
technology is growing more massive everyday it seems. I still feel like we should
be able to communicate without technology some. Using technology in
instruction is also very important because of the technology growth. Teachers do
need to be educated on the different types of technology because it is just the
kind of world we live in. Students will grow up to rely on computers to do a huge
portion of their work so we need to integrate it as much as we are allowed to.
