INTRODUCTION

Research Questions (if research questions are not specifically mentioned, what
is the theoretical background or overarching theme):
What are principals’ perceptions of the importance of technology? and Do principals’
perceptions of technology differ by years of experience and gender?
It has been an interesting research topic since a quarter year, implementing technology
in schools, and successful Principals’ role in putting into practice the technology in
schools.
Purpose of the research:
The aim of the study is the Principals’ approach and initiation of technology at school.
How the successful schools’ Principal’s view on technology.
METHODOLOGY

What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants:
o A number of 310 principals participated from a big city in the southwest region
of the United States.
o The survey was consisting of 126 males and 184 females. A variety of years of
experience was present with 104 participants having 0-3 years of experience, 82
participants having 4-7 years.
o The number of 55 participants having 8-11 years, 32 participants having 12-15
years, and 31 participants having greater than 15 years of experience
Procedures:
o The number of students were trained on how to conduct the interview with a
specific number of current public-school principals.
o The purpose made survey and it was designed and included for both qualitative
and quantitative questions.

Data Collection Methods/Data Source:


o Particularly for this study, only the data from the interviews was collected. The
source was the interviewed principals’ perceptions and responses.

Data Analysis:
o The principals’ responses were studied several times to become familiar with
the data.
o The information was coded into meaningful categories.
o Once the categories were set, another analyst independently coded a 10%
sample of responses to determine the consistency of the coding.
RESULTS

Findings or Results (or main points of the article):


o About one-third (35%) of the principals indicated that technology was used as a
primary communication tool.
o Over one-quarter (28%) of principals responded that technology was integrated
in teachers’ classroom instruction
o The third category was using technology for data sharing and management
(14%).
o The four category ,15% of principals replied saying that using technology as a
resource to find information.
o Lastly, technology was used for student learning only10%.

DISCUSSIONS

Conclusions/Implications (for your profession):


Since I work as a Director Studies, I need to be prepared to improve and enhance the
views of Principals about implementing technology in all areas of teaching and
learning, data sharing and management, as well as administrative tasks. This could be
done through rigorous professional development.

school/work):
Overall, this research is very informative and useful for my future career practices and
references. According to my understanding from this research, it is essential that
Principal’s view on implementing and practicing the technology in school. Not only in
communication but also instruction, data sharing, student learning and administrative
tasks.
