In this study, the principals' perspectives and orientations about technology are
examined with open-ended cognitive interview questions. (1. What are principals’
perceptions of the importance of technology? and 2. Do principals’ perceptions of
technology differ by years of experience and gender?)
It also examines and focuses on the influence of principal characteristics such as
experience and gender, and the use of technology.
METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the

Participants:
The study was conducted with a total of 310 school principals, 126 male and 184
female, in a metropolitan area in the southwestern United States. Among the school
principals, 104 participants have 0-3 years of experience, 82 participants have 4-7
years of experience, 55 participants have 8-11 years of experience, 32 participants
have 12-15 years of experience, and 31 participants have more than 15 years of
experience.
