INTRODUCTION

What is the principal’s perception of the importance of use of technology in

schools?
Purpose of the research:
The purpose of this study is to see if gender and years of experience influence
a principal's perception of the importance of technology and do those
perceptions of technology differ.

METHODOLOGY

What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants:
 310 principals from a large metropolitan area in the southwest region of
the U.S.
 126 males and 184 females
 104 with 0-3 years’ experience, 82 with 4-7 years’ experience, 55 with 8-
11 years’ experience, 32 with 12-15 years’ experience, and 31 with
more than 15 years’ experience

Procedures:
 The questionnaire was developed as part of a graduate school program
where students are required to interview principals.
 Only two questions from the questionnaire were applied to this study.
 The two questions were: Has technology had an impact on your school?
And if so, in what specific ways has it made a difference?
 From the responses, data was categorized into 6 meaningful categories.
