Q. Differentiate between a product and a brand. Give 10 examples of each from the
Pakistani market.

Product:
A product is anything that can be offered to a market that might satisfy a want or need. Product
is the item/article offered for sale in a market. A product can be a service or an element. A
product can be physical or in virtual or cyber form. All products are made at a cost and each is
sold at a price. The price that can be charged based on the market value of the product, the
quality, the marketing and the division that is targeted. Each product has a valuable life after
which it needs replacement, and a life cycle afterward which it has to be re-invented.
Product has a combination of tangible and intangible qualities (benefits, features, functions, uses)
that a supplier offers a buyer for purchase. For example a seller of a toothbrush not only offers
the physical product but also the idea that the customer will be improving the health of their
teeth.
The Total product idea refers to the bundle of services offered by a product/service. As an
example for fitness equipment total product can be explained as all the benefits customers take
by using the product, from good health to the psychological sense related with using the product
to the time saved by buying the good online to the after sales services provided by the
manufacturer.
There are four level of Total product offering,

The Augmented product
The Perceived product

1. Sting, Seven up, Dew, are the products of pepsi company
2. Burj bank offers to customers to open smart saving account, which is the product of Burj
bank.
3. Don Carlos is a product of service shoes.
4. Panadol tablet is a product of GSK Company.
5. Toyo Company offers different product in market, Toyo Bike is a product of Toyo
Company.

6. Faysal bank offers to customer to finance different vehicles through bank, is a product of
faysal bank.
7. Samung Company offers different electronic product in market, Samsung mobiles are
product of Samsung Company.
8. LG, Sony company sales different types of Television & LCD in market, which are the
products of that company.
9. HP Company offers different product in market, HP printer is a product of HP Company.
10. Indus Motor Company offers different types of vehicle; Toyota Corolla XLI is a product
of IMC.

Brand:
The process involved in creating a unique name and image for a product in the consumers' mind,
mainly through advertising campaigns with a reliable theme. Branding aims to create a
significant and differentiated presence in the market that attracts and retains loyal customers.
Unique design, sign, symbol, words, or a combination of these, employed in creating an image
that identifies a product and differentiates it from its competitors. Over time, this image becomes
associated with a level of credibility, quality, and satisfaction in the consumer's mind (see
positioning). Thus brands help harried consumers in crowded and complex marketplace, by
standing for certain benefits and value. Legal name for a brand is trademark and, when it
identifies or represents a firm, it is called a brand name.

2- Service is a brand of shoes industry
3- Uniworth, outfitters, Rivo, Levis, Engine, Khaadi are the name of different brands in
Pakistan which is famous in clothing.
4- Super Asia is a brand of different sanitary items.
5- Toyota, Honda, Suzuki is brands of Vehicles.
6- Samsung, LG, Motorola, Q mobiles, are the brands of mobile making company.
7- Sonex is a brand of tiles.
8- Burj Bank ltd is a brand of banking industry.
9- GSK, Novartis, Efroz, Sunray, are brand of different pharmaceutical companies.
10-Lipton is a brand of tea processing company.
