Challenge: Prove beyond a


reasonable doubt the
lifecycle of a fruit fly. In
two weeks time, be able
to predict the day when
the newest generation of
fruit flies will emerge as
adults.
A fruit flys lifespan is notoriously short.
It consists of three stages: larva, pupa, and
adult.

Challenge: Prove beyond a reasonable

weeks time, be able to predict the
day when the newest generation of
fruit flies will emerge as adults.
With a partner, install a peeled banana and flies
in the jar and secure the cotton cover. Watch
them do their thing!
Spend 20 minutes observing and brainstorming
how you might design your study.
