ARMY SPOUSE WORKSHOP:

LEARNING ASSESSMENT
1
Trust in Me

7th Infantry Division-BAYONET

Workshop Summary
There has been an ever growing need for an optional course that gives Army spouses
the opportunity to become better acquainted with Army unit structure. A detailed
breakdown of a Brigade Combat Team and how it functions will provide spouses with
an in depth understanding of specific jobs. The workshop will also take the time to
highlight the importance of spousal roles within a Brigade Combat Team and how
those roles are directly and indirectly effecting the Brigades readiness. This would
allow them to be more in tune with why their Soldier trains the way the do and would
allow them to become more supportive of their job and its impact on the organization.

Learning Goals
The learning goals of this workshop will reflect how the participant is
expected to understand and retain the information being presented on the
Armys Brigade Combat Teams.
1. Develop an increased understanding of the Armys three Brigade Combat
Teams structures.
2. When given relevant information, participants will gain awareness of how they
directly influence Army readiness.

This presentation will only provide an assessment for the first learning goal and associated
objectives. The second will be developed upon approval.

Types of Assessments
There will be a pre-assessment at the beginning of the workshop. The
purpose of this assessment will be to evaluate how much knowledge the
spouse may already have on the topics being taught. For example, the
learners in the target audience may already know some of the enabling
objectives, or some of them may have already achieved the terminal
objective (Smith & Ragan, 2005, p. 107). This prior knowledge will be
expected from the spouses that have been associated with the Army fro a
longer period of time.
There will also be a post-assessment at the end of the workshop in order to
evaluate how much of the information the participants have retained. This is
also vital to ensuring that the workshops goals and objectives have been
met and what can be done to improve them.

Assessment Format
Since this workshop is going to be based on the model of Declarative
Knowledge, the Pencil-and-Paper Assessment style will be the most effective
form due to its use of Recall and Recognition items (Smith& Ragan, 2005).
1.

Multiple choice and open answer questions for both the pre and postassessments.

2. Group discussions
