1) The first company we looked for is ENTERGIZE a hotel room energy management

company, which was established in 2001.

2) It has various clients across all states in America and two of its major clients are La
Quinta and Holiday Inn.
3) The company provides a solution called OCCUSTAT PIR Thermostat system, which
basically help saves energy when the room is unoccupied.
4) The way the system works is that when a guest enters the room, he or she is
detected by a passive infrared motion detection system, which causes the thermostat
to be placed in the occupied mode.
5) The guest now has normal control over the rooms A/C system and it will run
immediately bringing the room to the guest selected temperature.
6) Only when no activity has been seen for 60 minutes the thermostat begin to raise or
lower the temperature, according to set points selected by management.
7) Vendors experience with other clients indicates cost savings of about 20%-40% in
room bills. Additionally, there are other benefits such as: positive cash flow
immediately realized, payback in 1 or 2 years, installed in 30 with no dead-spots,
and eco-friendly image.

1) The second company is, IllUMRA, is a leading supplier of lighting control and energy
management systems.
2) Its major products are wireless light switches, wireless sensors, wireless receivers,
wireless LED fixtures and smartphone apps.
3) In particular, our analysis was focused in two solutions. The first one is called
ILLUMRA self-powered wireless controls.
4) Basically, this product will turn off the power of unoccupied rooms through a key card
system, reducing energy consumption on both light systems as well as HVAC systems
too.
5) According to the vendor, the estimative cost reduction is about 30%.
6) The second product we are interested in is called ILLUMNRA Thermostats.
7) The goal here is to cut heating and cooling costs by replacing current thermostats
hotel systems with this new technology.
8) The new thermostat communicates wirelessly with additional transmitters and
receivers, so when a guest enters a room and inserts a room keycard into the keycard
switch, the switch transmits an occupied signal to the thermostat, adjusting the
temperature to a predefined level. The happens when a guest leaves the room.
