Classroom Reading Program

The Book Club

To encourage and celebrate students love of
reading, we are continuing our reading incentive program
entitled The Book Club! Students will be responsible for
completing a Book Club form for each chapter book that they
read. Throughout the school year, Book Club slips will be on
display in the classroom. Students should be reading chapter books
within a reasonable range of their own personal Lexile level. Please note that
picture books will not count toward their point goal.
To become good readers, students need to read, read, read! The Book Club
incentive program is the goal we are setting for each child to succeed in reading.
This program will also be considered for the students' reading effort grade
for each trimester. Student rewards for The Book Club program are as follows:

9 pts. by March 3rd = D.E.A.R. Day

24 pts. by March 3rd = Award (certificate)
36 pts. by March 3rd = Lunch with the teacher and a

treat
Please encourage your child to read for at least 15 minutes (or more) per
night. Not only does this meet our third grade homework requirement, but
research has shown that the development of reading skills is the #1 key to success
in a childs entire school experience! Thank you for helping your child to do his
or her personal best to meet success!
