The Book Club
The proposed is that we open a book
club at our high school library. A librarian
and a library assistant would run the
program. It would run the entire school
year long. The comics/manga will be
predetermined and a schedule will be
published. At the end of the school year,
we will plan to take a trip to Chicago
Comics!

Marketing
Spreading the Word
● We will create flyers and book marks that
announce the book club and have the posted
in different parts of the library as well as the
school.

● We can submit for weekly reminders in our

morning announcements.

● Partner with teachers (English and

Humanities) to announce the book club in their
classrooms.

To measure the success
of the program:
● We will compare stats from month to month
○ Holds/checkouts of book club books
○ Attendance from month to month
● Check in on students each month to see if
they’d like to do something differently for the
upcoming meeting
● Year-end satisfaction survey
● Quarterly budget evaluation

Budget

Budget Allocations

● The cost of books might be less in partnership with Open Books grant.
● Otherwise, this ongoing event should be budgeted for in the general yearly library
budget.
● A mid-year fundraiser may occur, which would simply be donation based.
Budget Allocations Summary

● We should expect to spend up to $30 for snacks for each meeting

● We will use the books in our collection, but we expect to have more
checkouts on book club books, so I’d allocate $100 for each quarter;
actual expense will depend on demand
● Field trip would be for a yellow bus rental; everything else (lunch, book
purchases, etc) will be up to the student
● Materials includes whatever is needed for promotional material and
book club activities
● An additional $200 would be set aside for unexpected purchases
● TOTAL: ~$1,000
Thanks
