Dr. Pat Stuckemeyer
In the era of new musicians and voices, there is one in particular on the euphonium that
needs to be known. Dr. Pat Stuckemeyer has travelled across three continents and over a dozen
countries to bring the solo repertoire of the euphonium to people world wide. Born in Evansville,
Indiana in 1981, Pat went to Capital University in Columbus Ohio and graduated in 2004. From
there his masters degree was completed in 2006 and the University of Kansas. Pat then travelled
overseas to the United Kingdom to achieve an Artist diploma from the Royal Northern College
of Music in 2007. Pat then moved to Arizona to achieve a Doctor of Musical Arts at Arizona
State University in 2010.
Dr. Stuckemeyer has held university positions at Arizona State University, Mesa
Community College, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, and Indiana University Southeast.
Some of the responsibilities that he held were; adjunct instructor of low brass, teacher of brass
pedagogy, studio instructor, music theory, aural perception, and business classes in
entrepreneurship. He was able to teach this class, because in 2007 Pat and his wife, Mary, formed
Potenza Music Publishing Company. Working with Potenza has allowed Dr. Stuckemeyer to
represent composers and artists worldwide. It also allows him to work directly with composers to
bring new music to audiences all around the globe. Dr. Stuckemeyer has premiered pieces
written for him by numerous composers such as; James Barnes, Jonathan Newman, Stephen
Roberts, Peter Meechan, Noah Taylor, Anthony Zilincik, Damian Montano, Daniel Nelson, and
Donald Grantham.

In addition to being president of Potenza Publishing Company, Dr. Stuckemeyer is the

founder and president of Just for Brass, and Just for Winds. These online stores are stores made
specifically for each appropriate section, and provide instruments, sheet music, accessories,
mutes, cases, and recordings to the buyer.
Aside from the business aspect, Dr. Stuckemeyer enjoys playing not only as a soloist, but
also as a chamber musician. Pat is a founding member of Eufonix, Tuba Quartet 2.0 and has
released two recordings with the group, titled End Game, and Brink. When in the United
Kingdom, Dr. Stuckemeyer performed with the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band, and was the
solo euphonium with the oldest brass band in the world, the Besses o Th Barn Brass Band. He
has also performed with the Salt River Brass, the Fountain City Brass Band, Euphoniums
Unlimited, and the Bend in the River Brass Band. In addition to chamber music, Pat has recorded
three solo albums. His first album is entitled Just For Fun and was released in 2005. His
second is entitled Stepping Stones for Euphonium, Vol. 1 and was released in 2006. His third
and final album comes with the accompaniment of the Arizona State University Wind Ensemble
and is entitled Footprints which was released in 2010.
Dr. Stuckemeyer is an artist and a clinician for Besson/Buffet Crampon and performs
solely on the Besson Prestige 2052-S euphonium. He also has his own signature line of
mouthpieces which are available from Mike Finn Mouthpieces. Dr. Stuckemeyer currently lives
in Evansville, Indiana and teaches at Scott elementary school in the EVSC. There he teaches
beginning band as well as general music. Some find it interesting that he has the degrees he holds
and teaches in an elementary school. E observed him and taught with him for a couple of years
now, and it is truly a great experience to have him break it down. Dr. Stuckemeyer is a fantastic
musician and a great pedagog.
