Armed-robbery suspect is charged after shootout with Officer on Tuesday Chucktown, MD --- The suspect in an armed robbery is in fair condition at CP Medical Center after Chucktown Police Officer, Elliot Mess, shot him in what seemed to be an attempted robbery, Chucktown police said. Officer Mess was approached by a man with a sawed off shotgun when he retrieved his weapon and fired three shots in the suspects direction. The suspect was escorted to College Park Medical Center on Tuesday and is being treated for two shotgun wounds, one in the left shoulder, and one in the right thigh. The suspect is being treated for his injuries and has been charged in relation to Tuesdays events. A witness comes forward Jeff Nagler a 24-year-old water treatment plan supervisor of 9th Street in Chucktown witnessed the event on Tuesday while eating lunch at Arbys. I thought it was a publicity stunt, Nagler said. He only realized the severity of what he was witnessing after the three shots were fired and the suspect lay on the ground. The charges The suspect, has been charged with unlawful use of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a police officer and attempted murder in respect to the altercation with Officer Mess.
