The following data may be used to illustrate the construction of a c-chart. They show the number of defects per group in successive groups of 5 radio sets each. Prepare the c-chart and comment on the picture revealed by the chart. Suppose that you wished to continue charting this quality characteristic using X ̅ and R charts on a sample size n=3. What limits would be based on the X ̅ and R charts. What would be the impact of the decision you made in part (iii) on the ability of the X ̅ chart to detect a 2σ shift in the mean? If n=8, revise the parts (iii) and (iv).
