In a company that is dedicated to processing and packaging sand (one of its uses is the production of paints), there have been complaints from customers because the
weight of the bags is highly variable. In particular, for a certain type of sand, the bags must weigh 20 kg. To address this complaint, it was decided to study the variability of
the packaging process by implementing an X – 2R control chart. The lower specification is set to 19 and the upper specification to 21. In the packaging process, three
consecutive packages are taken every three hours and weighed.
