A11 Macbeth

Act 4
Do you have any sympathy left for Macbeth? Why or why not?
I no longer have sympathy for Macbeth. He is a weak minded person and has not changed his
paranoid ways. He is now willing to kill innocent families to spite a potential threat.
Act 5
Were you satisfied with the way the play ended? Why or why not?
The ending was satisfying because Macbeths rule was overthrown and the Duncans son,
Malcolm, became the ruler. Scotland will no longer be controlled by a paranoid psychopath, but
a man whos related to an already trustful person, which gives a lot of people hope for the
future. It
was also satisfying to see the three witches prophesy come true in an unpredictable way.
Act 5
Compare and contrast the final days of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. How are both
characters affected by the knowledge of their evil deeds? Whom do you find more
sympathetic at the end? Why?
The difference between Macbeth and his wife is Macbeth accepts the fact his rule will be
overthrown, but decides to postpone this fate as long as he can. Lady Macbeth, on the other
hand, decides she cant handle the guilt of being apart of murdering King Duncan, and decides
to commit suicide.
I find Macbeth to be more sympathetic because he was manipulated into becoming king. The
three witches told him a prophecy that he didnt need to hear, and his wife swindled him into
committing murder.
Write an alternative ending (two paragraphs) for Macbeth.
When Macbeth is about to be executed by Macduff, he suddenly wakes up from his bed,
realizing he had been dreaming this whole time. The next day, Macbeth and his soldiers fight
against two different invading armies, just like in the beginning of the book. After the fight, he
and Banquo encounter the three witches, who they tell them Macbeth and Banquos offspring
will become king. King Duncan promotes Macbeth and says he will be visiting him. When he
gets home, Lady Macbeth creates a plot to murder Duncan so Macbeth can be king. Macbeth

Kang 2
refuses to carry out the plan and turns in his wife to the guards, they arrest her for conspiracy on
murdering the king.
Many years later, king Duncan and his sons die from poison in their food. Macbeth is eventually
crowned king. Macbeth proves to be a horrible leader, and is frequently paranoid that
somebody will attempt to kill him. His leadership pans out just like in the canon story and
citizens and army retaliate against him. Macbeth is executed by Macduff, and Macduff is
crowned king.
