Background : elderly an aging process in humans are unavoidable. One sign of decreased
function of the body to adapt to environmental stresses and is the final stage of sklus human
life, often characterized by conditions of life that are not as expected, it is a heavy burden for
the elderly that can lead to depression. Depression is highly ranges occur in the elderly
because of the loss, physical decline, family support, social interaction and economic status.
Family support is needed of the elderly and the interaction among fellow surroundings also
affect the lives of the elderly and economic status of the elderly is needed because it was not
able eamers again. Purpose research : to determine the relationship of family support,
social interaction, economic status with the incidence of depression in the elderly in RW 01
village 13 Ulu Palembang. Methods : this research was an analytic research using cross
sectional design. Sample using purposive sampling technique population in this study is the
elderly who live family in RW 01 village 13 Ulu Palembang as many as 84 respondents.
Results : The results of research show p value = 0,000 < 0,05 shall mean the relationship
between genesis family support with depression, p value = 0,000 < 0,05 there relationship
between social interactions with depression genesis, p value = 0,001 < 0,05 there
relationship between economic status with genesis depression in the elderly. Conclusion :
family support, social interactions, economic status , events depression, elderly in genesis 01
village RW 13 Ulu Palembang
