FOCAL LENGTH VOICE OVER SCRIPT

July 18th
, 2014
This scripts purpose is to clearly define placement of specific lines within the game as well as
declaring the naming convention of audio files recorded.
This file will need to be updated with each script change, whether on the page or in the recording
booth.

KEY
Scenes will be labeled with a number (ex: Scene 1) and represent a specific grouping of Voice Over.
This grouping will be more clearly defined next to the scene declaration (ex: Scene 1 Tutorial)

Lines will be labeled with a number following the scene number and an underscore (ex: sc1_1). This
label will carry over to the naming of specific audio files.
Pickup lines that are re-recorded and may include variations of the regular line. They will be labeled
with a pu (ex: sc1_pu1).
Inserts are lines that may be added after a scene is recorded. They will be represented with letters
(ex: Sc1_1a). If the insert comes before the first line of a scene, it will feature no number and only a
letter (ex: sc1_a).
FILE NAME EXAMPLES: Sc1_1_tutorial, Sc1_pu1_tutorial, Sc1_1a_tutorial, Sc1_a_tutorial
Given the open-world experience of Focal Length, it may not be possible to label scenes in a
traditionally, chronological order and based on location. Scene grouping and labeling will be based on
common themes.

We will be used to describe what the audience is seeing on screen and may include actions out of
the players control.
The Player will be used to describe actions specifically controlled by the player. Such as, The
Player looks up or The Player orders a hamburger. Some actions, such as pressing a button on the
controller, will be scripted but do not necessarily appear on screen: The Player presses X.

Scene 8 :NEWS REPORTS:

News Reports can play over the radio as coming from the New Control Room; both in the van and also
while playing the game.
Sc8_01: A pivotal day in the Global Energy Crisis, Humbolt Energy solutions has finally turned on the
Wellspring reactor they unveiled last year. This reactor will provide 24 hour electricity for premium
subscribers in Boston. Feelings were mixed as many were excited to finally have 24 hour electricity
returned to their businesses and homes, but many dissenters believe the Wellspring reactor, which
relies on Terrestrial Black holes for energy, is dangerous technology.
Sc8_02: In related newsan evening protest against Humbolts Wellspring Reactor broke out into a
riot when several explosions erupted near the Humbolt Pavilion. Witnesses claim protestors were
blocking a series of Humbolt vans from leaving the garageeven managing to capsize one of the vans
in all the excitement.
Sc8_03: World News: The United Kingdom has closed down its side of the channel tunnel.
Negotiations with French parliament fell through when French Officials refused to include England on
exclusive import rights to Saudi Arabian Oil reserves. French Prime Minister said, Britain has plenty
of oilthey just want more.
Sc8_04: Russian physicists Vlad Kolomnikov has been missing for three weeks. He had recently
published a scientific article on black hole technology citing several areas of instability. Neighbors
claim, to have heard several loud noises coming from his apartment the night before he was declared
missing, but none can confirm that he was home at the time.
Sc8_05: US oil supplies have dropped to 4% capacity. Congress has voted to disperse reserves only for
essential businesses and operations. Activists in New Orleans have made claim that reserves belong
to the people and should be evenly dispersed on a per-citizen basis.
Sc8_06: Neo-Luddist leader, Valeria Cane, spoke out against Humboltcalling the Wellspring reactor
a Trojan horse for disaster. The live-stream had over 20 million viewers despite being broadcasted
during peak black-out hours. Valeria concluded with, the apocalypse is upon us, and it comes
bearing gifts.
Sc8_07: Seven days ago, NASA probe Selene was launched to explore potential H3 extraction on the
lunar surface. Moments before losing signal, the probe discovered an abnormal object on the dark
side of the moon. Analysts have yet to identify the object, but have described it as a cube the size of
four football fields. Repeated attempts to connect with NASA Probe Selene have resulted in failure
and no telescopes have yet to make visual contact.

ARTHUR CHARACTER PROFILE

ARTHUR is a 45 year-old divorced father of two who puts work first. He is a confident man that
assumes leadership in most situations he finds himself, but often takes on a fatherly role with those
that work for him. Whisky is one vice he often grants himself after a hard-days work. On particularly
stressful days he may drink a little on the job, but his proven track record of success has led to many
co-workers looking the other way. Outspoken and extroverted, hes quick to express what hes
thinking, but he keeps his softer emotions to himself. He fought in an overseas war. The experience
left him mildly shell-shocked, but hes never been diagnosed with PTSD (by himself or a professional.)
Having children has caused his ability to stomach war to wane.
