SONIC 2: FILM REVIEW

Sonic 2, a worth to see sequel. When I realized Sonic was so successful that it’d have a
second part, I almost lose my temper. I’m a big fan of the fast-blue hedgehog, although
his games and TV series aren’t perfect.
Sonic’s a funny-loyal hero that always find a way to save the day although the cost
would be higher than he imagined; and the forward portrays this amazingly. With the
last character of Jim Carry, Dr Eggman, comes back to earth on a new attempt to
avenge himself, because of Sonic’s beating on the past movie. Followed by a new
character voiced by Idris Elba, Knuckles the Echidna, Dr Eggman will find an emerald
with unmeasurable-destructive power. The delightful growing of Jim Carrey as Eggman
through Sonic and Sonic 2 is simply beautiful, the sequel brings us an eviler enemy that
protected by a peculiar and almost undefeatable rival, Sonic’s gotta go faster than
before so he can find the emerald before them.
Honestly, I give the movie 4/5 stars, it is almost perfect, therefore the critics say that
Sonic 2 is a little bit-better than its prequel, and I can understand why: there are simple
jokes, the way Knuckles and “Tails” (Colleen O’Shaughnessy) are introduced is quick
and doesn’t give enough importance to their origin, some situations (but not many) are
predictable, but really enjoyable, such as (spoiler alert) Knuckles joining the good guys
at the end; but there is one scene that not everybody could predict: the first appearance
of Super Sonic; it’s still a very goosebumps final fight. I rate the movie with a 4/5
because of the script, special effects, fight scenes and the never-ending references to
the games, such as: Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 3, Sonic Heroes. At last but not least, the
more exciting post credits scene of the videogames-adapted movies: Shadow the
Hedgehog.
The fact that SEGA and Paramount put all their hearts to make good movies about
Sonic, is reflected on critics, plot, the well-developed characters, cast and the huge
amount of references to the games. It doesn’t matter if you’re or not a fan, you can
enjoy both movies. SEGA finally puts the needed effort to take Sonic out of the dark pit
that some games put the fastest hedgehog in.
