A sample of articles were chosen to observe how the authors backed up their
arguments from the point of view of statistical tools. The articles were classified as using
statistics or no. The results are presented in a table at the end.

The selection of topics was made based on personal interests.

It looks like Political Science research and analysts stared to use some form of
quantitative measures in the late 50s. This could be a hypothesis that may be
investigated further.
