Single Site Verification Service

1.1 Objective
This guide defines the prerequisites, workflow, deliverables, checklist deliverables, and
responsibility matrix of the Huawei radio network single site verification service. It aims to
guide the related service delivery departments and personnel to get familiar with the service
delivery content and to deliver the service by following the standard flow, thus delivering the
service with a high efficiency and a good quality.

1.2 Application Scope

This guide applies to the after-sales delivery of the UMTS network single site verification
service.

1.3 Intended Audience

This guide is used by the on-site delivery engineers, network planning project managers,
service managers, and marketing personnel of Huawei.

The purposes of SSV include:

Installation quality Audit (such as cross cable)

Parameter Audit (such as PSC, frequency)

Hardware problem checking

2.1 Prerequisites
The prerequisites include:

Workflow
Before Single Site Verification, make sure that 60% of the total sites are integrated in the
network. The purpose for this is to guarantee the efficiency. This threshold can be changed,
depending on different project, or sometimes the pressure from customer, but please keep in
mind:

Please assess the project schedule carefully, dont put all the teams at the beginning.
Otherwise, a lot of money will be wasted;

Normally, one week is required for the DT team to get know how to use Huawei DT
software and how to test SSV items.

After most of SSV of cluster or network are finished, the initial tuning will start.

2.2.1 Preparation
Good preparation will improve SSV efficiency extremely, which includes following parts:
Tools Setup
Test Tools should be discussed with customer, and reach agreement with customer.
Normally, for the aim of cost-efficiency, Huawei will propose to use Huaweis tools, including
software (probe/assistant) and hardware (handset/datacard/scanner).
Besides test tools, TL(Team Leader) should prepare a computer, acting as RF server to store
the SSV log files and reports. It is better that the server can be accessed by internet so that the
test team can put the log file into the computer as soon as they finish test.

There is one equipment to be provided customer: FTP server. The FTP server should be
located near the SGSN. It is recommended to test the FTP server and make sure that the server
is totally ok before SSV start.

SSV template
The template should be agreed by both customer and Huawei. Huawei could propose the
template to customer. The simpler the template, the more efficient the SSV delivery.
There are some suggestions:
1, Its better not test handover between NodeBs. This is because of the fact that when testing a
site sometimes the sites around it are not on air. Bear in mind that since adding and deleting
neighbor list is a heavy work. And that normally handover is not a problem, then, neighbor list
is better to be optimized during initial tuning phase.
2, Its better not to test handover between 3G and 2G. The reason for this is because it is
difficult to find a suitable place to do this kind of test.
Drive Test Route Planning
The test routes for each sites do not need to be approved by Customer, but the principles for
SSV DT route planning must be defined together with customer.
Basically the routes should cover all the sectors of each sites, main roads and important areas
within each cluster.
Drive Test Methodology Definition
Before starting the drive test, Huawei need to define the test methodology with customer,
including:

Test Method: long call, short call, throughput test method, etc.

Test Period

File Size for Download and Upload (throughput) and ftp window size configuration

Training
It is very important to train the SSV test technicians in order to improve their efficiency.
Normally, for most of the projects, subcontractors are recruited to finish SSV. It is very
common that these technicians have not worked with Huawei testing tools before. Besides, the
SSV items in one project are usually different to those in any other project. Then, its important
to train the technicians so that they can get familiar with the tools, and also with the working
flow of SSV test. Please, find below one example of working flow, which defines the test step
by step and how to name the log files. Its very useful.
After the training, normally one team should be able to test 5 sites per day, providing that the
template is not so complex.

Site Status Audit

Before SSV test, information about site status must be confirmed from the RNC engineer. The
target for site status audit is to make sure the test site is working normally, otherwise it must
influence SSV. It includes:

HSDPA/HSUPA status

Neighbor list checking (if handover is required to be test)

2.2.2 Verification Test and Analysis

Drive Test and Analysis
Drive test must follow the route defined and the methodology defined. It should also include
an analysis and record all the problems that may have arisen during the test.
The post-analyze engineer needs to analyze and record the problems, troubleshoot and output
the SSV report according to the template.

2.2.3 Tuning for Problems

When abnormal events happen during testing a site, the test & analysis engineer has to
analyze the issue, give a recommendation and record all of it. After the recommendation is
approved internally and after it has been implemented, the SSV engineer has do verify that
site again.
Most of the problems in SSV phase are related to installation and parameter problems, so RF
Engineer has to distinguish the problems and send the solution to different teams, apart from
monitoring the troubleshooting progress. It is recommended to propose that installation team
prepares one team to be dedicated to troubleshoot SSV.
A SSV control table is required to record all the SSV actions, including problems, test times,
test date.and by the SSV control table it is easy to get progress statistics

2.2.4 Report Generation

Once the test result is acceptable and problems are solved, generate the SSV report.
Refer to <SSV report template> for detail information and format.

A.

In order to improve the efficiency, it is suggested to do SSV after more than 60% sites
integrated, except the swap project. This percentage should discuss with customer.
