An unexpected bet

The love can vary depending on who manifests it, in

this film, Jack Singer, who is Nicholas Cage
promised to his mother while she was on her
deathbed that he would never marry, but years
later, he breaks his promise and declares his love to
his Girlfriend Betsy, who is a schoolteacher
determined to marry Jack, a private investigator
whose financial situation is quite precarious. The
couple of lovers travel to the city of Las Vegas with
the intention of getting married for the love that
they had each others. In Vegas, a millionaire,
Tommy Korman, sees in Betsy an astonishing
resemblance to his beloved and last wife, so he
becomes entranced with her for what he makes to
Jack an invitation to poker games, while they are
staying at the Bally's Hotel. This millionaire
organizes the poker game where Jack loses
$65,000.
In these scenes we can notice that if his mother really loves him, she mustnt
have made him to promise be alone without married. It is not a true love, it is an
obsession.
In our society there are some mothers that are obsessive with their sons, and
they think her sons will be whit them always without letting them to fly.
In this case Jack was worried about his promise. While his life was in tic tac, he
finally could change his mind and give another turn to his life, but the ambitions
and the bad costumes sometimes make in us some unexpected changes as a
result of our decisions, and in most of the time those decision comes as a product
of our habits in the life. In the case of jack were the poker games, but in our
society could be other habits that can destroy our plans or goals.
Korman agrees to eliminate the debt in case he can spend the weekend with Jack's fiance
so the misfortune turns the girl into paying a gambling debt that the bridegroom contracts
with a mature gamer.
What a complicated life had Jack that agrees to let his wife the whole weekend
with Korman as a bill for paid the debt. I can say what an unwise he was, how he
could do that! This man has not values; he was not a man that a bride wishes.
After getting Korman to agree to no sex, the desperate couple agrees. Jack tries desperately
to get Betsy back and discovers that Tommy has taken her to Hawaii, where he has a
vacation home. The gambler also has a taxi driver friend, Mahi Mahi (Pat Morita), and asks
him to keep Jack as far as possible from him and Betsy. Jack discovers this, steals the taxi,
and sees Betsy outside the Kauai Club, where he's attacked by Tommy and arrested. After Dr.

Molar bails Jack out of jail, Mahi Mahi meets him outside and admits that Korman left for
Vegas with Betsy and has convinced her to marry him. Mahi races Jack to the airport. Betsy
decides she cannot go through with the wedding and escapes from Tommy.
But as the saying says to the bad weather good face having Jack lose his
girlfriend, defended his love by shell and sword. He started to look for her
everywhere without worrying about himself; he traveled to different places just
for join with his loved girl. It was not so easy to find her because the millionaire
had a lot of influences everywhere; his eyes were in different parts, so everything
was complicated to Jack.
Meanwhile, after changing many planes and finding himself stuck in San Jose, Jack tries
frantically to find a flight to Vegas. Finally, he finds a group about to depart for Vegas, but,
much to his surprise finds out mid-flight that they are the Utah chapter of the "Flying Elvises"
- a skydiving team of Elvis impersonators. Jack now realizes that he will have to skydive from
3,000 feet in order to get to Betsy. Jack eventually is able to overcome his fear and lands and
spots Betsy, which then ruins Tommy's plans.
When the love is great a man can give even his life for who he loves, Jack was not
the exception he was able to jump from an airplane just for be with her. What
would you do for your loved woman or man? Probably if exist a true love we do
whatever we can and go wherever our nose pointed. Would you?
The final scene shows Jack and Betsy getting married in a small Las Vegas chapel with the
Flying Elvises as guests, Jack still in his white illuminated jumpsuit and Betsy in her stolen
showgirl outfit.
The prize for our efforts is always at the end and it is the most important part of
us, work for it if you really want, otherwise you wont be able to fulfil your plans
or goals. Jack recovered what he had lost for his bad decisions, so everyone can
makes mistakes but in the same way we does we can solve it even if we are
between a rock and a hard place as Jack in his unexpected bet.
