December 1 2015
Dear Friends and Supporters of Escuela de Educacin Especial,
Today is #GivingTuesday! Have you thought about giving today?
At this time of year, many of you will begin thinking and planning for end of year charitable
donations. We are excited to let you know Escuela de Educacin Especial is participating in
the End of Year Campaign running from December 1st to December 31st through Global
Giving.org. This fundraising campaign gives you the opportunity to top up your US charitable

donations for the US tax year 2015 in a very meaningful way. With the assistance of Global
Giving 501C3, your online donation is convenient to make and your tax receipt will be mailed
directly to you.
Today is also the day that EEE is launching its new project "Empower Deaf Women to Build
a Business in Mexico". During the month of December, through your support of this project,
we hope to compete for one of nine bonus grants of $500 or $1000 offered by Global Giving
to the top participating organizations. To qualify for the bonus grants EEE must raise at least
$3,000 from 30 unique donors. This target is clearly possible, but will only happen through
your generosity. It will be especially helpful if you are able to share our fundraising effort with
your colleagues, friends and family. There will be a Recurring Match Campaign running in
tandem with the End of Year Campaign. Any donor who signs up for a monthly recurring
donation to the project will be matched to a maximum of $200, so it is the perfect time to
start a recurring monthly donation. Please help us to be successful in earning a bonus grant
by making a donation on December 1st or on any day you choose in December.
You may also wish to consider giving a donation as a gift in honor of a friend or family
member this holiday season.
Simply go to our project page "Empower Deaf Women to Build a Business in Mexico" to
learn more and to make your donation.
You can also learn more about what the school stands for and about the young people it
serves by visiting the school's website.
Below you can read more about two young women from EEE whom the new project will
assist.

Cupcakes de Carla y amigos

Young women attending EEE aged 16 to 27 years are learning new skills in vocational
training workshops after their regular morning classes and are a part of this new project. It is
their dream to create a co-operative enterprise to sell their handmade crafts to the public
and this new project will go a long way to making this dream a reality. Two of these women
are sisters, Carla and Azucena. Carla is EEE's preschool teacher and has a passion to run
her own cupcake business. With assistance from Azucena, who is completing adult
education high school equivalency classes, and several dedicated volunteers, she is
working hard to get this new venture off the ground. Although both Carla and Azucena are
deaf, they are not letting that hold them back; they are focused only on their abilities, which in
everyone's eyes, are quite amazing! The cupcakes they create taste yummy and look
beautiful. Carla and Azucena recently debuted their cupcakes to the public at the local
Saturday Organic Market and completely sold out all 300! In the above photo, they are
shown presenting their cupcakes to a local church group with their friend Ceci, who helps
them with English/Spanish and Mexican Sign Language translation.
Thank you for helping all the students at EEE by giving generously to this new project.

As always, we would love to hear from you or if you happen to be in San Miguel, have you
come visit the school to meet the students. Feel free to email us at info@eeesma.com
In gratitude,
John Doherty
