Dear Friends and Supporters of Escuela de Educacin Especial,

The young ones send greetings! The older students continue to balance their daily routine of
academic, computer and Mexican Sign Language classes in the morning and Vocational
Training Program workshops in the afternoon. Add to all of that the excitement of
International volunteer visits, field trips, cupcake sales at the Saturday market and you have
a recipe for busyness! The students have a love of learning and are happiest when their
environment is stimulating so, they continue to advance and thrive. We would like to share
with you some of the wonderful things happening in their school world....
For more information visit our website; www.eeesma.com
Everyone at the school would like to thank all those that continue to give to the "Friends of
EEE" program....thank you, very, very, much for your generosity!

Jsus, Adan and Gualo

Loving to work with their hands to create beautiful wooden crafts,
the boys are progressing well in the carpentry workshop.
Recently they have been learning to use hand and power tools
and are now making small furniture items too; for their families' use
and also, one day, for sale.
Cupcakes by Carla and Friends
St. Patrick's Day brought green and orange toppings with
"Kiss Me, I'm Irish" plagues which John wore with pride. Sales
were brisk at the Saturday Organic Market and the young women
were pleased with how their hard work was rewarded. They are
baking and selling once a month on certain market days and for
special orders. In the future they dream of a cafe/bistro style
business where they can showcase their creations daily. In the
meantime, its practice, practice, practice.

Introducing Our New Director

Fabiola Riuz Bedolla grew up a child of deaf parents. She joins us
from Ippliap, Mexico City (our sister school for deaf education).
There Fabiola started as a teacher, progressed quickly to
interpreter and sign language instructor and ultimately a
psychologist. She has moved to San Miguel de Allende with her 2
year old daughter Regina and husband Guillermo. We are very
proud and honored to have Fabiola as Director of EEE!
Friends from Flagler College, St. Augustine, Fla. Visit
Thank you Dr. Margaret Finnegan, Maestra Trisha Wilmore, Taylor
and Jessica for sharing your expertise and enthusiasm with us
once again. Activities included sharing of cultural traditions and the
history around Semana Santa in Mexico and Easter in the United
States.
A field trip to enjoy all the attractions of the Historic Center and El Charco del Ingenio
botanical gardens were highlights of their visit. We look forward to your return in the Fall of
2016; until then, our students we be Skyping you!

Miguel Angel Joins the Teaching Team

We are happy to introduce Miguel Angel Dorantes Mendoza as the
newest addition to the school's faculty. Miguel is also from Mexico
City, single and has a degree in Political Science. Miguel began
learning Mexican Sign Language as a young person so that he could
communicate with his sister who is Deaf. He tells us that he is happy
to make a change to a career in teaching and live in this magical city
of San Miguel. We wish Lorena well in her new ventures.
Welcome Miguel, we are happy to have you with us!

As always, we would love to hear from you or if you happen to be in San Miguel, have you
come visit the school to meet the students. teachers and staff. Feel free to email us at
