TheProNestpartlistcontainsallofthepartsthatyouhaveaddedtoyourjob.Whenyou
importpartfilesintoyourjobfromapartsource,ProNestprocessesthesefilesandthenadds
themtothepartlist.Addedpartscontainalloftheinformationfromthesourcefileaswellas
thenestinginformationthatwasaddedwhenthepartwasimported.

Theeditingofajob'spartlistisdoneintheEditPartListwindow.Fromthiswindowyoucan
buildapartlistforyourjobbyimportingpartsourcefilesintoProNestandaddingpropertiesto
thoseparts.

What is a nest?
Nestsarecomprisedofpartsthathavebeenpositionedonaplateinaparticularorientation.In
ordertocreateoutputforanestinProNest,anestmusthaveatleastonepartaddedtoit.
Belowisanexampleofanestwith24partsnested

Nestingcanbedonemanually,wherepartsareaddedtotheplateoneatatime.Apartor
groupofpartscanalsobearrayedontoanest.Nestingcanalsobedoneautomatically.
Nestsarecreatedandmodifiedafterpartshavebeenaddedtothepartlist.Thefirstphaseof
nestinginvolvesaddingpartstoyournest.Oncethepartsarenested,manyfeaturesusedto
modifythenestwillbecomeavailable.

TASK Modifying Parts:Whatfunctionscanbeusedtomodifypartsoncetheyhavebeen


addedtoanest?

Theycanbemoved,rotated,clustered,tabbed,duplicated,andmirrored;cutdirection

InthemainProNestwindow,thereisalwaysadefaultplatetobeginnestingon.Youcanbegin
nestingonthisplateimmediatelywithoutexplicitlycreatinganewnest.However,youcan
createanewnestatanytimeusingtheplateofyourchoice.

Withinteractivenesting,partsareaddedfromthepartlisttothenestmanually.

TASK Positioning Part 1:Whatarethetwoprogramcomponentsthatwillaffecthow

selectedtoallowthesefeaturestofunctioncorrectly?

UnselecttheAnchorparttocursoroptionbelowthePartListwindow.

TheAutoDropzoneandAutoBumpsettings(ontheNestingsettingspage):

WithAutoDrop,partsareinitiallyaddedtothenestinthesamerelativespot(inoneof
thecornersorthecenteroftheplate).ThepartmaybeaddedbyDoubleclickingthe
partinthepartlistorselectthepartinthepartlistandthenpressENTER.Thepartwill
initiallybeplacedintheregionspecifiedintheAutoDropzonesetting.
Example:IfyouhaveAutoDropzonesetto"UpperRight"andAutoBumpisoff,your
partwillautomaticallybeplacedintheupperrightareaofthenest.

IfyouhaveAutoDropzonesetto"UpperRight"andAutoBumpisactivewithdirections
setto"Down"and"Left",thepartwouldinitiallybeplacedintheupperrightandthen
wouldbeautomaticallybumpedupandthenleft.

Clickanddragthepartfromthepartlistontothenest.Thepartwillinitiallybeplaced
whereyoureleasethecursor.

Thesesettingsonlycontroltheinitialpositioningofmanuallynestedparts.Onceparts
havebeennested,youcanmovethemaroundfreelyonthenest.

array.

Removing parts from the nest
