R-3
Applications

R-3 is a finely-ground lignosulfonate powder used as a low-to moderate-temperature retarder, R-3 is functional in
a wide range of formulations to extend the slurry thickening time at temperatures up to 240F (115C) BHCT. R-3
provides dispersing properties during mixing and good strength development.

Disperses the slurry, providing lower mixing viscosities.

Benefits
Compatible with all API cements and most BJ cement additives. Its specific gravity is 1.36.
Normally requires small concentrations for desired results (0.1 % to 1.0%).
Very economical compared to other cement retarders.
Normally dry-blended but may be easily dispersed in the mixing water.

Safety Precautions
Use normal personal protective equipment when working with R-3.

Limitations
R-3 can not be used to retard A-2 or Sodium Metasilicate extended (lightweight) slurries.
