Description
The Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) is a set of large-scale
surveys of families and individuals, their medical providers, and employers
across the United States. MEPS is the most complete source of data on the
cost and use of health care and health insurance coverage.
The mission of the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is to provide
statistical information that will guide actions and policies to improve the
health of the American people. As the nation's principal health statistics
agency, NCHS leads the way with accurate, relevant, and timely data.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has begun "liberating"
health data through theHealth Data Initiative- making more and more
data from their vaults (from CMS, CDC, FDA and NIH, to name a few
sources) easily available and accessible to the public.
