Abstract
This article of Semiotics and The Changes of Meanings is to mention about
the variety thinking in the meaning of signifiers, which had been variable interpreted by
different social contexts. The main ideas of the article presented to the meanings and
the importance of semiotics and factors that influence the interpretation of signifiers,
which caused to change the meanings from the past, also to speculate the reflects of
changing the ways to think of people in each societies. The case study has been involved
into the sign Sawastika by analysis and getting the definition based on the novel
Mythologies written by Roland Barthes (1915 1980) in which signs are given blank to
elevate the level of myth, that could be considered whatever or normally to social
understanding. Interpretation signifiers freely focus on letting go without any conditions.
The results of analysis and summary ideas together with important world events,
which has been consequently from the past to present, came to an understanding about
the people in one society might have different interpretation signifiers from another
societies, whereas the cultures and social context are differed. The emotional events
might become totally new meaning of conflict of interests from the beginning of sign
using. Man learns to make new meaning from his own remembering plus values in
present society, where he belongs. To be accepted and understood the variable
signifiers should apprehend the reality meanings to acknowledge and admit the
difference of the other opinions, which will not bring them into the contradiction in
societies finally.
