BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

This short, intensive and highly specialized course is focused on priority and emerging
micropollutants in wastewater (including sludge) and wastes systems (including biowastes,
green wastes, manures). Aspects related to the policies, the sources, occurrence and fate
in water and wastes, treatment technologies (process, models, microbiology) and
ecotoxicological impact of micropollutants will be tackled. Students attending this Training
School will get the insights on the up to date results/hot topics on these fields.

Types of activities during the course include:
Lectures given by senior researchers and guests speakers

Group exercises to set up scientific poster/mini-review

Discussion sessions

Presentation of the participants research topics and plenary discussion with senior
researchers
Lab-visit and a technical visit will complete the program

A technical visit to WWTP

The course will be in English. It is oriented to PhD students who wants achieve a
higher degree of specialization in this field, but also to other students or professionals
specifically interested in these topics and with a limited amount of time.
Maximum number of participants: 20
Total hours: 28 (theoretical and practicum). This will be confirmed by a certificate of
participation, but it will not have ECTS equivalents.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

Guided tour through the historical part of Narbonne: Monday, 4 th July 2016 19:00-21:00
Farewell dinner: Wednesday, 6th July 2016, 20:30
Technical tour: Thursday, 7th July 2016,14:30-19:30
Facilities available include 2 pilot-plant halls in which different fully operative pilot-scale
plants (dry and wet anaerobic reactors, ozonation, microalgae reactors, etc.) are in

VENUE AND LODGING


The organizing strongly suggests booking accommodation in the recommended hostel. It is
a renewed facility, located in Narbonne center. Budget is about 80 /night for double room.
