Description of how to implement in the class: To introduce the study of famous people, I will
use the Franklin D. Roosevelt BrainPop video to engage my students. I will start the lesson asking
students if they know anything about Franklin D. Roosevelt. After a short discussion, I will
challenge the students to see if our predictions were correct. Students will watch the Franklin D.
Roosevelt video. Students will also be asked to remember one interesting fact about Franklin D.
Roosevelt.
After watching the video, the students will share their interesting fact. The teacher will list all the
response on chart paper or interactive white board. If there are not enough responses for each
child (1 to 1 ratio), then continue until enough responses are provided. Each child will select one of
the facts to create an illustration. After the drawings have been completed with at least one
sentence to support the drawing, the teacher will use her camera to create a digital image. All
images will be added to a PowerPoint slide show, where the students will narrate their image. The
PowerPoint will be converted to a movie format and uploaded to the classroom blog.
