Executive Summary

Founded by two brothers, Jim and Mike Scherer. Clench Sports LLC is a sports technology company on a
mission to change the sporting industry. Using the latest advancements in digital dentistry and 3D printing
technologies, Clench Sports is determined to provide EVERY athlete the opportunity to wear a
professional, custom-fitted sports mouth guard.

We began introducing custom mouth guards to the high school athletic population in December. In less
than six months we went from an idea to a profitable business with sustainable, positive cash flow. But as
mentioned above, we are not just motivated by extrinsic, monetary gains. Our drive is intrinsic, fueled by
a passion, a calling, a feeling of self-destiny to change the game like few others have ever attempted. Our
self-belief is backed by technological advancement combined with customer dissatisfaction with the
current dominant offering. The door has been open to reshape the industry.

Like many startups, we dream of not just being a part of an industry, but rather being Titans of the
industry. Clench Sports has a revolutionary vision and detailed plan, but it will be our execution, focus,
and discipline that determines our companys success. We have researched the history and the current
status of all of the major competition and we understand the needs of our diverse consumers. Most
importantly, we have spotted an opportunity to reinvent how consumers shop for and purchase sports
mouth guards.

95% of the 81 million dollar mouth guard manufacturing market is dominated by cheap boil-&-bite
mouth guards. While superior custom mouth guards occupy only 3% of the market share. Every decision
that Clench has made including retail price, materials used, and market demographic has been
meticulously thought out Clench strives to provide the highest quality product and service available.

Clench is asking for 5,000 dollars. With this funding Clench will undergo a major marketing campaign
and brand development. We will develop an eye-popping logo that stands out and create a concrete
advertising plan to reach specific target markets. Clench will also be developing a website. Through
advertising properly, Clench Sports will evolve from a high potential startup to the company that
reinvented an industry. As business grows, Clench will gain the reputation and credibility needed to
attract investors and obtain the funding necessary to become the digital company we envision. Although
the majority of our time and energy these past few months has been focused on sales and customer
acquisition, Clench understands the value of FUELs pitch competition. The top prize of 5,000 dollars will
be an important catalyst in our quest to change the game and become a titan in the industry.

Value Proposition

Clenchs camo guard

Clench Sports offers the highest quality mouth guards for prices that compete with standard boil and bite
guards. Before Clench, athletes were forced to choose between cheap boil and bites and the expensive
custom mouth guards. We offer our product at a prices all
athlete can afford. The problem in the past was that only
professional athletes could realistically afford the custom
mouth guard. Now, all athletes, including amateurs can
reap the benefits of custom mouth guards.
Clench Sports offers all different types of mouth guards to
multiple customers segments. We offer our goods to both
male and female athletes. We offer our products to high
school athletes, college athletes, and eventually
professional athletes.
The 4 main sports that we equip with mouth guards are: hockey, football, field hockey, and lacrosse.
Other sports would include basketball, wrestling, MMA fighters, softball/baseball, and soccer. There are
three major aspects to our business that sets us apart from our competition. One being our price. You will
not find a lower price for a custom mouth guard than ours. Two being that we come directly to the
athletes. Clench goes to the school, takes the athletes impression, and then delivers the product a week
later. Three being that we will be using 3D scanning and printing to manufacture our guards. The future is
here, Clench will be the first to apply this technology to the mouth guard industry.

Customer Segments
Clench Sports breaks up our customers into segments to best advertise to specific demographics, rather
than all athletes.
1. Mens Lacrosse
2. Womens Lacrosse
3. Football
4. Field Hockey
5. Mens Basketball
6. Womens Basketball
7. Mens Hockey
8. Womens Hockey
9. MMA Fighters
With these nine segments we can focus on who we
are selling to. It allows us to know exactly (based on sales) who the most important segment is. Our belief
is that Football will be our most profitable segment based on the number of athletes on each team.
Each segment has a different need. A basketball player does not need the same mouth guard as a football
player. The level of contact in both sports is dramatically different. However, the most dental injuries
occur in basketball. As the customer segments change so will the customizations.

Customer Relations

4
Clench Sports plans to partner with high schools athletic departments. Clench will be targeting wealthier
schools because some of them are more likely to have a fund for sports safety. Each relationship we form
will bolster our positive reputation. Maintaining a good reputation will provide us with a snowball effect
to get more schools on board with our business. Year one, we may only have five schools, but year two
we hope to grow to at least 12 schools. Year three, after people know about Clench Sports we will have
schools contacting us asking for us to come in. At this point Clench would expect to have 20 plus schools.
Traditional mouth guards are replaced every year. The first time working with a school, we will be selling
to all four classes. We are unsure whether athletes will save their custom mouth guards for later seasons.
We plan to have customers return by offering a deal in which if they purchase a mouth guard their
freshman, sophomore, and junior year, they will receive a free one their senior year. Clench Guards will
reflect a specific team motto/number. Clench Sports will have the majority of our customers for four
years, some will go on to play at the collegiate level, and some may become professionals.
Clenchs main focus will be mouth guards. However Clench will keep athletes engaged with our product
by having a product road map. Clench will be releasing alternative styles every season. These include
binky mouth guards, mouth guards with straps, lower jaw mouth guards, additional colors, and many
other styles.
Another revenue source for us will be 3D printing for dental offices. Dental offices are starting to
purchase 3D scanners. This allows them to scan teeth to eliminate the impression process. The office then
has to send the scan to a lab to print the model out. With our 3D printer we can print the scan out for a
cheaper price and deliver the 3D model faster than a big dental lab.

*Object 30 3D Printer*
We are athletes who went through, and are going through the same experience our customers are
experiencing. Because we relate to our customers, we can assist them with anything they need relating to
their Clench Guard. If they lose their guard, we still have their mold, this allows us to sell a second mouth
guard at a discounted price (within the same season). We do not expect there to be any returns, but Clench
will allow returns for full money back if the athlete is not satisfied. Clench Sports will have a website
where athletes and parents can go on and create their custom mouth guard in order to see what it looks
like before they make the purchase. On the website there will be contact information, and everything else
the athlete will need to fully enjoy their Clench Guard.

Channels
Clench Sports can provide guards for low prices because we do everything ourselves. We sell,
manufacture, and deliver our product to our customers. Clench is based out of Connecticut which means
most of our clients will be within the state. The way the delivery works is after going to the school and
taking an athletes impression, we go back to the lab and fabricate the guards, and deliver them back to
the school within a week.
Clench plans on growing and spreading to multiple states. We currently have clients in Massachusetts. For
now the delivery will be similar. Clench will take the impressions in MA, then head back to CT to
fabricate the guards. After the guards are complete we have a couple options to deliver them. Clench
could either ship them or personally deliver them. As a startup business we want great customer relations,
the plan is to drive up to MA and deliver the guards personally. This will ensure that our customers
understand Clench cares about them and has their best interest in mind. As we have more and more clients
in MA we will look into other logistics such as shipping and even setting up a second lab in MA.
Revenue Streams
Our customers can pay for each mouth guard using cash or any major credit/debit card. Our revenue
streams consist of mouth guards, whitening trays, and eventually 3D printing for dental offices. In the
next three months, Clench will have a retail website available. This will be an additional revenue stream.
Our books are managed by a personal accountant.
We have a base price of $30 a mouth guard. This is for the most simple, non-personalized guard. With
each customization there is additional prices to add. Currently, our most expensive mouth guard is $56.
These numbers are relatively low for custom mouth guards, we are using the penetration strategy to enter
the market. We are sacrificing profit for growth.
We use value base pricing because our guards offer much
more than boil & bites do. Our guards are tailored to a
specific individuals mouth rather than a one size fits all
method. Our boil and bite competitors sell their guards
anywhere from one to forty dollars. The good boil and bite
mouth guards sells for around $20 dollars. Our competitors
for online custom mouth guards sell their product anywhere
from 50-150 dollars as a starting price. Our dentist
competitors sell their guards anywhere from 150 to 400
dollars.
Key Activities
There are many steps that go unnoticed when it comes to providing an athlete with a mouth guard. The
following steps are the most important:
1. Purchase the necessary raw materials to fabricate the mouth guards
2. Make a connection with the coach and players at the school and set up a date to come back and
take the impressions
3. Come back to the school to take players impressions and collect the money.
4. Fabricate the mouth guards
5. Deliver the mouth guards back to the athletes

6
Step one is easy, all we have to do is order the materials. Step two is one of the most important steps.
Connecting with coaches is important because ultimately he will decide if he wants his players wearing
Clench Sports guards or not. Step three, is fun, everybody likes their name on their gear. Our product
provides this for them. After setting up a time to do the impressions, Clench Sports shows up with a team
of 2-4 people. The first person receives the payment, the second person has the player take their own
impression, the third person has a bag ready to put the impression in, and staple the order form to the bag.
The fourth person assists with the impressions.
The next step is creating the positive impression (3D mold) from the negative impression. We do this
back at our lab. This step is consuming and can take a day if there are many orders to fill. With the
positive impression, fabrication of the mouth guard can begin. Each guard takes about twenty minutes to
make. The last step is delivering the mouth guard back to the school.
The more schools we have the more revenue Clench brings in. Advertising will be key in increasing the
amount of schools we service. Clench Sports will be focusing a lot of time on brand development and
awareness over the next couple months. Part of this will be making a website. The website will allow
athletes to create their guard virtually before they purchase it. Athletes will be able to see exactly what it
will look like before they receive it.
As a Production based firm we will be focusing on, not only production but selling and branding.
Clench Sports is not just a mouth guard company. Clench Sports is a technology company that competes
in a unique industry. As of right now, Clench uses tradition dentistry putty to take the impressions. Ideally
within a year from now Clench will have 3D
technology (3D printer and scanner). This
technology cuts production time and cost of
goods in half! The technology takes away the
traditional impressions using putty, and
replaces it with a scan. Not to mention once we
do have the technology Clench can start
printing for local dentists, which will be
another consistent revenue stream.

Key Resources
Financial- As a startup Clench has no retained earnings to put back into the business. All of our startup
expenses have been covered by Jim Scherer (President and CEO). He has invested just over 12 thousand
into the business. In the next six months we are forecasted to earn about 9 thousand in revenue. Within
three months we plan on creating a Kickstarter campaign. Within 18 months we plan on raising $60
thousand dollars in order to purchase 3D technology.

7
Physical- All of our equipment would be considered key resources. Our lab, located out of Stanford, is
also included in key resources.
Intellectual- Our intellectual resources would include all of the company owners connections.
Human- Jimmy and I, being the two founders and employees of Clench Sports are resources. My Uncle
Chris has been a mentor since the beginning. There have been many other resources, such as the FUEL
organization, along the way that have given us tips and advice to get to where we are today.

Key Partners
The partners we have will be the schools we go into. The idea is that if the school allows us to come in to
provide mouth guards for their athletes Clench will give them a percentage of sales. 3D scanning and
printing is going to be what sets us apart from our competition. 3D scanning is considered dentistry. This
means we would need a dental assistant to scan teeth. We believe an effective way to acquire this position
would be to partner with a dental office. At this point we would have a 3D printer. Through our
partnership the office would gain access to our 3D printer and we would gain a dental assistant. This
relationship would be mutually beneficial to both parties.

Greater than or equal to
$1,000 15%
Greater than $2,000 20%

Cost Structure
Currently, our lab is located in Jims house. We do not incur any utility or rent expenses. All of our costs
as of now are variable costs. It costs about six dollars to make a mouth guard. Our six dollar cost comes
from: trays, dental putty, dental clay, and cases. Other variable cost would include number of athletes
purchasing a guard. We pay to print out a flyer and order form for each player. As of right now no body
collects a salary. Every dollar Clench earns is put right back into the business. Eventually we will be
paying employees by the hour.
The only key resources that would result in expenses would be the physical equipment. Some key
activities that would result in expenses would be purchasing the raw materials and the driving back and
forth to each school. Our firm is value based. Custom mouth guards offer a higher value than boil and bite
guards. Our prices reflect that.
