WHAT IS GMO?
GMOs, or genetically modified organisms, are plants or animals created through the gene splicing techniques
of biotechnology (also called genetic engineering, or GE). This experimental technology merges DNA from
different species, creating unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that cannot occur in
nature or in traditional crossbreeding.
For consumers, it can be difficult to stay up-to-date on food ingredients that are at-risk of being genetically
modified, as the list of at-risk agricultural ingredients is frequently changing. As part of the Non-GMO Projects

High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is used as a sweetener in thousands of mainstream packaged foods sold
in the United States and around the world, from bread to soda and even breakfast cereal.
Researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) found that cancer cells have a particular
liking for refined fructose. In tests, pancreatic cancer cells quickly fed on refined fructose and used it to divide
and proliferate rapidly within the body.
These findings show that cancer cells can readily metabolize fructose to increase proliferation, explained Dr.
Anthony Heaney of UCLAs Jonsson Cancer Center, one of the authors of the study.
Published in the journal Cancer Research, the findings also reveal that not all sugars are the same, a widely held
belief in mainstream medicine. Tumor cells love both glucose sugar and fructosesugar, but fructose directly
causes cancer cells to reproduce and spread in a way that glucose does not.
The study demonstrates that there is a major difference between high fructose corn syrup, a highly-refined sugar
commonly used in processed American foods and beverages, and refined sugar cane. Both can lead to health
problems, but high fructose corn syrup is worse in terms of cancer growth.
Additionally, a study conducted by David Wallinga, M.D., entitled Not So Sweet: Missing Mercury and High
Fructose Corn Syrup (http://healthobservatory.org/library.cfm?refid=105026) reveals that nearly one-third of all
grocery items sweetened with HFCS were contaminated with mercury.
The average American consumes 12 teaspoons of HFCS every day! So just by eating the standard American
diet of processed foods, consumers are right now potentially exposing themselves to exceedingly high levels of
mercury that far surpass the safety limits set by the EPA.

Would you knowingly feed your children an ingredient derived from coal tar? That's exactly what you may be
doing, if you let them eat any orange or yellow artificially-colored products including sodas, cheese-flavored
products, flavored chips, pickles or a myriad of other foods and beverages. The industrial waste-derived coloring
chemical tartrazine is a common ingredient in all these foods, underscoring the need to read food labels
religiously. (Why would anyone put artificial colors into pickles? Read the labels, and you'll see!)
Tartrazine, also known as E102 or Yellow #5, was one of the colorings linked to childhood hyperactivity in a
landmark 2007 study conducted by the United Kingdom's Food Standards Agency. As a consequence, products
containing it must carry a warning label anywhere in the European Union.
Not surprisingly, the United States has no such law -- even though the coloring has been linked to asthma,
migraines and cancer. But since when the FDA ever bother warning the public about dangerous chemicals in
their food anyway? After all, aspartame, MSG and sodium nitrite are all legal -- so why not add a little food
coloring poison to the cocktail and call it "nutrition?" The science of food coloring evolved from there and
technology created a new kind of dye derived from coal tar, a waste product of coal gas and coke. The synthetic
dyes came to be known at coal-tar colors and they are what we still use today.
By the beginning of the 20th century, some 695 of these had been synthesized, and over 80 were on the market.
7 are still used today. As of 2007, the following seven were FDA approved for any food: Blue #1, Blue #2, Green
#3, Red #3, Red #40, Yellow #5, and Yellow #6. Many are banned in Europe.
It might come as a surprise to many readers, but conventional salmon, chicken, and various other meats are
often artificially dyed to give the illusion that they are healthier and more nutritious than they really are. It turns
out that 95 percent of the Atlantic salmon sold in stores is farm-raised, and that the vast majority of this farmed
salmon is artificially dyed to look more similar to wild salmon. Pharmaceutical giant Hoffman-La Roche is a major
producers of pink dyes specifically used in farmed salmon pellets, also known as processed salmon food, which
obviously turns salmon flesh more pink. But instead of being composed of the natural salmon antioxidant
astaxanthin, the deceptive pink color found in farmed salmon is nothing more than a synthetic color chemical
known as "Carophyll" that is designed to look like astaxanthin and other natural salmon colorings. Hoffman-La
Roche and others actually have a salmon color chart known as "SalmoFan" that allows salmon farmers to pick
the shade of pink they want added to their salmon food, much in the same way that one would pick a wall paint
color using color tiles at the hardware store. For those with a trained eye, it is fairly obvious that farmed salmon
is not the same as wild salmon, as the former is typically a duller pink color and lacks the vibrant rose color that
is characteristic of wild salmon. But if it were not for the artificial color additives chosen from the SalmoFan,
farmed salmon would likely not even be pink at all, but rather a disgusting gray color that nobody would dare
purchase. Farmed salmon, after all, are subjected to unnatural, cramped environments in which they are not
allowed access to the open sea. Such environments create excess waste, and subject salmon to high amounts
of toxic chemicals.
The distinctive red color of hot dogs, bacon and some sausages may appear to be the healthy flush of just-
slaughtered meat, but of course any processed meat being sold in a store was slaughtered long, long ago. That
pink color actually comes from additives called nitrites and nitrates, which are toxic preservatives that kill off
bacteria and other living things and thereby increase the shelf life of processed meats. Indeed, sodium nitrite is
so toxic to the human liver and kidneys that the FDA unsuccessfully tried to ban it in the 1970s. Inferior and old
cuts of meat can be dyed and seamlessly fused together using meat glue. If you have ever ordered filet
mignon, New York strip, top sirloin, or some other prime cut of steak at your local steakhouse, chances are your
waiter actually brought you several smaller cuts of inferior grade meat glued together in the shape of the cut you
actually ordered. Utilizing a powdered enzyme known as transglutaminase, butchers and chefs have long been
bonding meat scraps together to cut costs and boost profits, a dishonest and unethical practice
Most food rots quickly, so companies have to find ways to preserve it. These include: boiling, freezing, mineral
removal, pressurizing, dehydration and so forth. All these processes leech the taste out of food. So food
companies add chemicals back in to make it taste real.
Monosodium Glutamate, better known as MSG, is a form of concentrated salt added to foods to enhance the
flavor. Because MSG is so cheap, the food industry can use much lower quality foods and simply add MSG as a
flavor enhancer. Currently, there is a huge investment by the food giants in MSG medical research to convince
consumers of its safety. Monsanto, the giant biotech company that creates genetically modified corn, soy and
canola, also controls more than 90% of the sugar beet industry; therefore, MSG contains the gene of the
pesticide Roundup. Consumers who don't filter MSG out of their diet are catching a double dose of toxicity.
This salt version of glutamic acid is an amino acid the body can produce on its own, but the MSG we find on
store shelves is processed and comes from genetically-modified fermented sugar beets. Because this kind of
MSG is processed, it can cause many adverse reactions, including skin rashes, itching, hives, nausea, vomiting,
migraine headaches, asthma, heart irregularities, depression and even seizures. . MSG is proven to cause brain
lesions, neurodegenerative disease and obesity. It is also addicitive. Since MSG acquired its infamous reputation
for causing migraines, the food industry has given it new names and new forms, including autolyzed yeast, yeast
extract, maltodextrin, hydrolyzed protein, sodium caseinate, mono-potassium glutamate, and textured protein.
Consumers who are watching out for monosodium glutamate in long ingredients lists usually don't know the
aliases, but should. The FDA also allows forms of MSG to be labelled as a natural flavour.

substance to be extracted from plant or animal "matter." So when you buy something that's organic, vegetarian,
or vegan, and it has "natural flavoring," you could be eating a pig, cow, turkey, chicken, or lamb which was
shot up with growth hormones, fed GMO pesticide-laden corn and grain - probably mixed with other animals of
it's same breed, then shot up with antibiotics due to infections and diseases from living in confined quarters on
slats covered in feces.

MANY BEER AND WINE MAKERS ADD BLOOD AND ANIMAL GELATIN TO THEIR

such ingredients are often used during the filtration process, in which natural solids are
removed to give the final product a translucent appearance.

CT scans are associated with increased risks of cancer, yet patients are not warned of the danger. Exposing a
child to the nuclear radiation from two or three computed tomography (CT) head scans can triple the risk of
developing brain cancer later in life, according to a 20-year study. The study also found that a child exposed to
the cumulative radiation of between five and 10 CT scans is three times more likely than an unexposed child to
develop leukemia.
Likewise, dental X-rays raise brain cancer risk. A study involving 1,400 cancer patients found that patients who
reported having yearly bitewing exams (dental x-rays) were up to two times more likely to develop meningioma.
Mammograms cause cancer by exposing the body to ionizing radiation that can be 1,000 times greater than that
from a chest x-ray, which we know poses a cancer risk.

future radiation-induced breast cancers, in a new published in the journal Cancer July 1st, 2012, reports that
radiation treatment actually drives breast cancer cells into greater malignancy.
The researchers found that even when radiation kills half of the tumor cells treated, the surviving cells which are
resistant to treatment, known as induced breast cancer stem cells (iBCSCs), were up to 30 times more likely to
form tumors than the nonirradiated breast cancer cells. In other words, the radiation treatment regresses the
total population of cancer cells, generating the false appearance that the treatment is working, but actually
increases the ratio of highly malignant to benign cells within that tumor, eventually leading to the iatrogenic
(treatment-induced) death of the patient.
