Congratulations! It gives me great pleasure to inform you that you have been accepted to parlicipate in the
Honors Program at Winthrop University. In Honors you will be motivated by peers and faculty and
challenged to do your best. The Honors Program at Winthrop seeks to encourage and enhance your
intellectual growth through small enrollrnent courses taught by faculty who prompt active student
partrcipation and intera.ction. Participati<ln in the prosram r"ill allow vou to realize vour highest potential.
I u,ill explain our program in more detail during the orientation sessions this summer in the Honors Center
at The Courtyard from 5;00 - 5:30 p.ln. on the following dates:

Session I, Monday, June22

Session II, Thursday, June 25
Session III, Monday, June 29
Session IV, Wednesday, July I

This is your formal invitation of acceptance and an offer to attend one of these very important
meetings.

As an additional benefit of your enrollment in the Honors Program, you have the opportunity to reside on
the Honors Housing floors in The Courtyard at Winthrop or in Wofford or Richardson Halls. I highly
recommend these accommodations since you will have the oppoftunity to reside on a floor with students
who share the same academic goals as you and, possibly, some of the same classes. In addition to that, you
will be allowed to move into your room a day earlier than the other freshmen. To reside on the honors
floor you must reside with a fellow Honors Program student.

Enclosed with this letter is the application for the honors floor in The Courtyard. If you are interested in
placement on the Honors Housing floor in The Courtyard, please complete the enclosed application and
mail the application along with your $25 non-refundable application fee (make checks payable to Winthrop
University) to the Deparlment of Residence Life using the address provided on the bottom of the
application.

In the corning weeks you will be receiving a packet of information about the rootl sign-up process from the
Departrnent of Residence Life.- Because space in The Couftyard is limited and allocated on a first-come
first-served basis, you should also apply for honors housing in the residence halls using the Eaglesnest
system as explained in your housing packet.

Program and honors housing to return to me at your earliest opportunity. Again, congratulations, and I
