A Word from
the Mayor...
Welcome to the City of Melrose. We are glad to have you here. We are a strong
community in Central Minnesota. Our diversity makes us very well represented.
You can camp and explore while here in Melrose, as we have the Sauk River Park and
Lake Wobegon Trail. From Melrose, you can bike to Fergus Falls or to St. Joseph, then up
north to Little Falls and back again. When you get done with all of that, you can head to Lake
Sylvia or Big and/or Little Birch Lakes in the summer. Melrose has wonderful restaurants,
bars, a history museum, a golf course and bowling alley, just to name a few fun things to do.
Melrose is conveniently located right off I-94, mid-way between St. Cloud and
Alexandria. We are just a little more than an hour from the Twin Cities. We have a wonderful
business community. There are small businesses, corporate offices and large industrial
businesses that call Melrose home. From Scherer Enterprise, to Jennie-O Turkey Store, we
are known worldwide for the products we sell and make right here in Melrose.
Our large industries include Jennie-O Turkey Store, Proliant Dairy, Land O Lakes,
Melrose Metalworks, Stearns Electric and Leedstone, Inc. We have an excellent employee
base for anyone. In the last few years, we have had new growth in the business sector in
town. CentraCare Health System has expanded their facilities within the last year.
Everything from a hospital, specialty clinics and assisted living to even a nursing home;
CentraCare is always developing something new to help our community. Melrose is also the
home of Warrior Boats, Inc. and the Central Minnesota Credit Union. With the addition of the
Dollar General and Carstens Industries, CAP Enterprises and Melrose Metalworks, we have a
very diverse labor force.
With multiple obstacles within the community throughout the years, it shows that
Melrose is a strong and resilient city. With new ideas and opportunities for redevelopment,
Melrose has and will continue to be a home for innovation and creativity.
Our churches and school system makes us a one-stop shop for anyone who wants to be part
of it.
We have the room for any business to come to Melrose and we will attempt to give you
all the support you need to be successful.
Melrose is a city with a rich history of diversity, starting with the Irish and Germans
and today we have the addition of the Hispanic population. Diversity is something Melrose,
which is an old railroad community, is known for. I believe that our history proves we are a
strong and resilient city. As we continue to change and move forward, we still take time to
stop and remember the past.
